Making place among the old IITs

The college featured at Rank 11 in the list of Engineering Colleges in India. It's progressing at a really fast pace and has a bright future ahead. It is making it's way into the list of the old IITs.

The course is not very tough. During the first year, there are chances of a branch change in the first semester. But that gets really tough cause everyone tries for it. To maintain a good GPA of above 8.0, you need to score good during the initial semesters. Exams are held twice in a sem. A mid sem for 30-40 marks and end sem of 50-60 marks. It depends on the professor to allot marks (usually 10) for assignment or class tests.

First of all, there is never 100% placements. Not even in the IITs. Placements are really good in terms of percentage placed as well as average package. In my batch of 55 people, more than 45 got placed. A few opted for higher studies. A few (4-5) could not get placed due to backlogs or no knowledge as per requirements of companies. College provides internship opportunities. But the process is similar to placements. You need to qualify in written tests and interviews. I got internship in Hindustan Zinc Ltd with a stipend of 15000 per month along with accommodation, transport and food. It was a really enriching experience.

There are basically 3 fests organized. A sports fest-Spardha, a cultural fest-Kashiyatra and a technical fest- Technex. One can volunteer to be in the core teams of these fests to gain experience in various fields as well as improving one's personality and communication skills. These fests rope in the bests of the stars-for example this year KK, Rahat Indori, Guru Randhawa, Rahul Subramaniam etc came to perform at our college. Even smaller fests like Lit club fest brought Anup Soni-Crime Patrol and Adil Hussain as judges.

It's feasible. It depends on your family income. If you are from a poor background, you will get full scholarship. It's much less than what private colleges demand. For food you are charged 12000 per semester.

Scholarship is based on merit as well as means. If you are from a poor background, you can apply for full scholarship. There are various other scholarships that are intimated by the honourable director from time to time.

Labs are really good. Fully air conditioned labs with high end computers. Recently, a Supercomputer was installed at our Institute. Sports and extra curricular activities can be carried out at hostels or Gymkhana.

Hostel fee is included in the Academic fee. Hostels are provided on a sharing basis with common bathrooms. They are maintained really well. The hostel lawns are lush green with varieties of flowers and fruit trees. There's a TT room, 2 badminton courts, a volleyball court in our hostel. Every hostel has more or less the same facilities. If you need to play anything else, the option to go to Gymkhana is always open.

Alumni base is very good. They offer much help in terms of scholarships as well as internships. Seniors are helpful as well. They never say a no. One can take guidance related to projects, placements or basically anything. Never hesitate in approaching them.

First I qualified for JEE Mains. Then after almost a month and a half, JEE advance was held. A merit list was prepared and a joint counselling was held for IITs, NITs and GFTIs. Based on the filled form order, the branch and college was allotted. And I was fortunate enough to get into the IITs

The faculties are well knowledged. There's a blend of really experienced profs as well as new enthusiastic ones. They have really great knowledge in their respective domains. To extract the most of it, you need to be in touch with them.
