Utkal University review

The course curriculum is very relevant to current industry standards. It's designed in a very student friendly and comprehensive manner. Simple to understand, this course curriculum caters to all the career needs of the students.

The university isn't obliged to provide internship opportunities, however it provides assistance in searching for one. I got an internship as Accounting Intern at Utkal Media Pvt Ltd where I helped the Chief Accountant in Accounting and Auditing tasks.

Placements start coming towards the end of the third semester and throughout the fourth semester. Companies like HDFC Bank, OPX America, Deloitte, Federal Bank have conducted successful campus placements in which almost 80% of the students were placed. The highest offer came is Rs 800000 from Deloitte. The average package is Rs 500000. I'm confident that I'll get a good placement by the end of this course.

The yearly fees is ?120000, with 16000 (now 17800) as seminar fund payment. It also includes ?1000 as library deposit. Hostel fees if included will increase the amount but since I'm a day boarder I've no information regarding that.

The campus life is pretty vibrant here. Every year our commerce department (in which the MBA(FM) is also there) conducts an annual extravaganza full of competitions and activities on the first day and a cultural night on the second. Not to mention the freshers and farewell for new and ongoing batches. Our library is filled with a rich collection of books and other study materials relevant to the course, easily accessible to everyone. Our classrooms are equipped with air conditioning and projector screens. Various inter college and inter department sports tournaments are held regularly.

I appeared for CPET and got selected for the second selection for admission into MBA course in Ravenshaw University. However on comparing costs, Utkal University fared as the better option with Rs 120000 compared to Rs 370000 in Ravenshaw University. I got admitted to the MBA(FM) course in Utkal University by appearing for their departmental entrance test (now it's accessible through CPET). Then there was a Personal Interview. The classes began on September 2023.

As i said before, the faculty is friendly and will help students navigate through academics. But sometimes they act distant and show ego which is not quite appreciated. Also sometimes they show outbursts of rage on small mayters which hurts students deeply.

There are ample cafeterias and market complexes where snacking and stationary are easily available. I don't know much about hostels since I'm a day boarder, but I've heard that it's pretty clean and liveable in there. There's a pond called Talapadeshwari pond and Gandhi park which are famous hangout spots within the university.
