Reviewing BIT Mesra (A college with Big campus and opportunities)

I choose B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering because In modern world we see that everything which influence our lives is based on some technology and to operate the technology we need some Software and Hardware. And the course help us to learn about the development of software. Apart from the curriculum one needs to innovate himself/herself with modern technology and the use of growing Artificial Intelligence.

The internship offered by the companies is less as compared to the placement offers The internship is only provided after 2nd year and the ratio of student receiving internship with stipend is very less. Student needs to prepare various projects and work as an intern to build a good resume therefore internship provide us with good resume.

Students get eligible for the placements from the 7th Semester but can get a PPO from 6th semester and other internship opportunities can be received before 6th Semester. The company which visits are FAANG companies (very less chances ),Wipro, Oracle, Hindustan Unilever,TCS, Infosys,etc(they generally give more offers) The highest package remains around 50 lakhs on campus while the average package around 17-18 lakhs for CSE. The percentage of students placed remains around 70 % . I aim to get a decent placement in a decent company and work to upskill myself after completing my degree.

The course fee structure is this which accounts to 17,68,000 in total In addition to the above, students will be required to deposit Hostel Caution Money* (One Time only - Refundable) of Rs.5,000/- and suitable mess advance at the beginning of each semester, which will be adjusted against their mess charges. For the July 2024 session, this mess advance was Rs. 30,000 Scholarship is provided from 2nd year based on the previous academic progress and your annual parental income. The other category students can obtain fee benefits from Various Government Schemes and may get additional scholarship. The scholarship provided by College is named as GP Birla Scholarship. Given mostly to the academic toppers with need of financial assistance.

There are basically two major fests in the college campus apart from the so many small Evennts namely BITOTSAV, Pantheon. BITOTSAV is held around March and Pantheon is held around October. The college have a central library with access to most of the books possible and a e-library is also there to help students with resources. The classrooms are provided with ACs,smart boards and all other basic requirements.

The Hostels are provided with small rooms which are decent for a single person but rooms are provided in sharing only. The Hostel mess is present in Hostel itself The meal quality is average. Hostels are easily affordable The hostels are present in campus itself.

Well It is a dream of every engineering aspirant to get into the prestigious college like IITs,NITs,IITs,BITS and so many other GFTIs before getting into other private university. I wanted to get into a good NIT but couldn't because of My JEE Mains rank as I need to change my branch into other branches to get into the NITs. I had option to either get into private colleges like VIT,SRM,RVCE or To join BIT Mesra for my particular course. I decided to choose BIT Mesra because it is a GFTI and way better than some of the private universities. The eligibility criteria to get into my college is through JEE Mains rank 12th boards (min. 75%)

The faculty to student ratio is decent as there are several faculties though there are mostly new and inexperienced faculties coming in.The faculties are approachable easily during the classes. Some faculties are friendly with students while some are very strict. The faculties which I liked are of Mathematics and Environment department.Though I didn't like some particular teachers from the Electronics department,there way of teaching. The exams are on a range of moderate to easy. There are some papers you can easily score though some paper you need to work hard upon. The overall grading of the result is good .Most of the students get 7+ CGPA while there are some who get fail or back in particular subjects. The course curriculum is old and I find it something irrelevant to modern day course system.

The Night life of the college is decent. The gym is present near the sports complex and all gym equipments which remain open in the morning and closes in the evening. The cafeteria surrounded by public area opens at around 9 am and closes at 9 pm. Hostels are decent but rooms are provided in sharing and hostel life is good . The mess is present at bottom of each hostel. Hostel closing timing for boys is around 11 pm and hostel closing timings for girls is around 9pm. College timings are from 8 am to 5:30 pm.
