BIT MESRA- A Myth or Legend

There is very less and practically no internship opportunities for students and students rely on off campus internships only. companies like tata, fractal, microsoft, salesforce visit the campus but select very few students.

Students Become eligible after the 6th sem for campus placements. There are may companies that visit our campus including Microsoft, Google, Apple, Amazon, Walmart, Salesforce, Deloitte, etc Highest Package is 50LPA (Microsoft) which is on campus and off campus is 1 Crore PA from Atlassian. Avg package is 15 LPA. Approx 90% cse students get placed and among other students the ratio falls to 70%. My plan is to work in a big MNC and make my parents proud

The detailed fee structure is Rs 4,00,000 per year for 4 years. It includes all the fees like admission, lab, registration and caution. There is no difference in fee structure based on category that is may someone be general, sc or st it doesn't matter, the fees is same for all. But yes there are a lot of scholarships like GP birla scholarship, E-kalyan scholarship,etc. GP Birla is merit based scholarship for students having more than 9 gpa in any semester( Rs 1,00,000 per year) E-kalyan is for weaker sections like obc, sc,st.(Rs 75000 per year)

The hostel facilities at this college are adequate but leave room for improvement. Rooms are basic, typically shared by 2 or 3 students and come with beds, study table, chair. Wifi is provided but often suffers from connectivity issues. mess meals are below average with a repetitive menu that lacks variety and nutitional balance. Students rely on Canteens or food delivery. Hostel registration process is fairly straightforward, completed during admission. Fees is high and no records are there where the money is spent. BIT Mesra has pathetic hostels.

I applied to several reputed colleges including NITs and IITs. I secured admission in all the NITs but chose BIT mesra for its balanced curriculum, robust infra, strong placement, and reputation in engineering education. I wanted to have CSE in a good college, leaving top 5 NITs all other NITs are lower than BIT mesra. I could not CSE in those 5 NITs due to missing cutoffs by a narrow margin in JEE Main so I opted for CSE in BIT. The admission process is transparent and streamlined. Admissions for the Btech program is through JEE main. Approx 98 percentile is needed by any general student to grab a CSE seat in this college.

The faculty to student ratio is pretty decent and There is no shortage of faculties. Most of them are very nice and approachable. They understand the emotions of students and are very friendly with their students. Like CSE departments have some great faculty which is boon to all the cse students. Now coming to ECE department, all the prof are nightmares and not at all approachable. Infact some take extra classes for 5 hrs continously on even, Sundays:( We have 2 quizzes of 10 marks each, 1 midsem of 25 marks and 1 endsem of 50 marks. They are moderate to hard. Course curriculum is outdated and needs updation as fast as possible

The locality is safe to roam at night. It is a very big campus so students usually roam at nights after dinner and hangout. The hanout places are IC, OC, PMC chowk etc. There is also a Gym with highly equipped machines with a closing time of 10pm. Library closes at 8pm every night. Boys hoste timing is 11pm and for girls it is 9pm
