Remarks

The college is really good. The huge campus full of greenery is a sight to behold. It's very clean and peaceful. Availability of resources, good transportation and communication facilities are there. Courese from undergraduation till post graduation are on offer. Experienced and skilled professors are also there. Apart from that placements are good. Substance abuse is a major drawback.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Course curriculum is prepares by the core committee of the college along with some references from old IITs. The syllabus matches with that of the syllabus of various PG entrance examinations. In every semester there will be two examinations. One is the mid-semester examination for 30 marks for each written paper and end-semester for 50 marks each. 20 marks for each subject are assigned by the subject teacher based on internal assessments, classroom involvement etc. Laboratory courses are evaluated on a daily basis, based on the performace on that particular lab class.

Placement Experience

5

Placements are really good. Our college has almost 100 percent placement record. More than 200 companies come for placement every year. Our college also provides internships and also welcomes companies to interview students who are interested in getting an internship. The stipend for internship varies from company to company.

College Events

5

We celebrate eastern India's biggest tech fest called INNOVISION, then we also celebrate a cultural fest called as NITRUTSAV. Then comes COSMOPOLITAN our in-house ethnic fest where students from different parts of the country give performances showing their culture and ethnicity. Then we have some small fests like ROOTS. JASHN is celebrated every year only by those who are in their final years purely for making memories before the leave the college.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The tution fees is same for all the NITs all over the country. But the remaining fees such as hostel fees, room rents etc. are very cheap. It seems feasible. Students with reservations and students whose family income is less than 5 lakhs per annum get tution fee waiver.

Fees and Financial Aid

Several NGOs and several government scholarship oraganisations provide scholarships. The college also a bank that provides loans for education. For availing scholarships, one must get all his documents verified from the college that allows him/her to avail the scholarship or loan.

Campus Life

4.5

The extracurricular activities are extremely good. There is always a scope for a students development. There are almost 60 student clubs under technical, literary, art and culture societies. These clubs promote these extracurricular activites under the guidance of the Student Activity Centre(SAC). The sports facilities are all managed by the SAC but they do not come under any club. Interested students can participate and play for the college team in various sports fests across the country. Sports like tennis, cricket, football, badminton, kho kho, kabaddi, swimming , athletics, volleyball, basketball, hockey are available for participation.

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostel infrastructure is really good. They are very well maintained. The hostels are full of lush green gardens. Washrooms are also neat. There is 24*7 supply of water. Power cuts are less. Mess provides food four times a day. There is a day canteen and a night canteen for those who wish to eat extra by purchasing. Every hostel is located within a proximity of a restaurant.

Alumni/Alumna

Our college has got an alumni association called as NITRAA which every year conducts get togethers, seminars, events such as quizzes, debates, declamations, competitions for school students, etc. The NITRAA is very active and also helps to promote various activities performed by the students of the college.

Admission

You have to appear JEE Main examination conducted by NTA. Based on the rank secured in the entrance exam a merit list will be prepared and then you need to participate in the online counselling where you need to fill your choices of different branches belonging to different colleges of which NIT Rourkela is also a part of.

Faculty

4

Faculty is really supportive and good. Excluding a few new professors, most of them have a good experience in teaching the topics. They also make proper use of technical tools for better understanding of the subjects.

Placement Experience:

I would rate the placements at my college as 3 out of 5. Students usually become eligible for campus placements from the sixth or seventh semester, and a few well-known companies do visit the campus every year. The placement cell helps with basic training like resume building and interviews, and many students, especially from IT branches, manage to secure jobs. At the same time, the average salary packages are not very high and top roles are limited, so a lot of students also focus on skill development, off-campus opportunities or higher studies after completing their degree

Students are eligible for placement from their 3rd year onwards. It has been only 2-3 months but I have seen several companies arriving at the college, prominent ones being Flipkar,Deloitte, Xerox, TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Microsoft, Dell and several others including startups. There is no accurate data on how many offers have been made this year, but there are rumours that more than 95% of the eligible students have got placements. After getting a degree my plans are if I dont land into a satisfying job then I will start my preparation of the military or start a new business.
