College life at DSEC

The faculties are very helpful and the infrastructure is also great. Campusing records are improving day by day which is a positive sign. The college will provide you a good quality education and exciting opportunities but it's upto the student, how he/she makes use of the opportunities.

ECE is one of the best options to go for if you are a Tech Enthusiast. ECE covers Electronics part as well as Computer and Communication part. It is a huge advantage for ECE students that at the time of placement, they can apply for the Core as well as the IT companies. So basically, scope of getting a job after B.Tech is higher in the ECE domain. The ECE and AUE departments of our college are better than the other departments. DSCSDEC has an intake of 120 students in ECE branch.

Well, the Training and placement officer keeps forwarding us the Internship opportunities but it is up to the student to get selected for the Internship.One exciting thing about this college is, if you rank among top 3-5 in your Dept. then, you will get an opportunity to do an internship and training program of around 1-2 months at Asian Institute of technology(AIS), Bankok. The complete cost of this internship will be sponsored by the college except the flight tickets. And every year many students get this opportunity.

The placement program is centralized with the other colleges of JIS(i.e NIT,GNIT,JIS main etc.). This has a positive side and a negative side also. Talking about the positive side, it brings many companies to the campus since the companies are getting the students of 4 colleges at one place at a time. But the negative side is, there is a lot of competition since students of 4 to 5 colleges are applying for the same job post. Here is a short list of companies and job post for 2019 pass out batch: 1) Zycus (Business Development Analyst, 12 LPA) 2) Capgimini (Grad. Eng. Trainee, 3.5LPA) 3) IBS (Develpoer, 3.5LPA) 4) Mantra Labs (Developer, 3.38 LPA) 5) Amazon (Virtual Asst. Work From Home, 2LPA+ Other Benifits) There were some more companies but all of their pay scale and job roles are same as above ones. There were some BPOs also, but let's not mention them.

This is the list of the events celebrated in our college: The Annual Tech Fest The Annual Cultural Fest Many Project Comp organized by the departments (i.e IMPULSE by ECE) Blood Donation Camp Foot Ball Tournament Other Sports Comp (i.e Chess, TT,) Annual Sports Day And many other uncertain events sponsored or organised by external communities. You can involve in everything as a participant or as a organizing committee member. I personally have involved in many of these and other than that I have represented the college in several Project Comp and Seminars.

The fee structure is made in accordance with the MAKAUT and AICTE guide lines. For B.Tech, ECE it is 40,000 to 45,000 every sem. All total around 4 Lakhs for the entire course. It excludes fees like : Hostel Charges, Canteen Charges etc.

There is always a chance of getting scholarship, if you score good in your Entrance Exam. But for that you have to apply for the TFW(Tution Fee Waver) scheme, where the student has to give only the Tution Fee which is around Rs.4000/sem. There are a huge scope to be a part of some interesting extra curricular activities. The college has Cultural Club, Sports Club, Editors and Writers Club etc. Labs are well equipped and the instruments are in good conditions.

The Hostel infrastructure is not so good. Though I have not stayed in the hostel but I have heard about it from my friends who live there. There are two separate hostels for Boys and girls. The hostel is not so far from the college campus.

Since it is not a very old college, it is doesn't have a strong alumni base. The college is around 10 years old only. Talking about the seniors, they are very helpful and friendly. They helps juniors in everything.

Mandatory Slot Tests (2 slot tests per sem) and obviously the final Semester exams are there. Though the importance of the slot tests are not high because these are the internel ones after all. But the Semester exams is the main exams which matter.

First of all I had to give WBJEE(West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination). According to the rank of WBJEE, I was selected in the college. Instead of giving WBJEE, one can apply by giving another entrance exam named AMPAI. But only requirement is that, the student must have 60% on an average in PCM. If you have poor Entrance score, it doesn't matter.

Most of the faculties are young and they are very passionate about their jobs. Most of the faculties of ECE dept. are highly educated and have degrees of some reputed institutes. Some of them have bad accent or you could find difficulties in their way of teaching but at the end of the day, they all will try hard to solve your doubts. We have a very strong bond with our faculty members as they are very friendly in nature.
