The course curriculum at IIT(ISM) Dhanbad is relevant and moderately comprehensive.Its focus on theoritical and practical aspects influenced my decision to pursue the program, especially courses like Image processing. The curriculum provides a good foundation for real world applications and further academic pursuits, though self-learning is vital to excel. Areas for improvement includes incorporating more industry-related content, hands on projects and interactive teaching methods. Exams are well spaced, with mid-semester, end-semester, and quizzes and assignments ensuring continous assessments.The difficulty level is manageable and most students perform with consistent efforts.

IIT(ISM) Dhanabd provides excellent internship oppurtunities, with top comapnies like Sprinklr, Google, Amazon, Phonpe, Microsoft and Goldmann sachs etc and includes the core comapnies of each branches also.It offers roles in software development,data analytics and consulting. sipend ranges between 1.5-2 lakhs. Projects often includes real-world problem-solving, building scalable applications, developing data pipelines, or conducting market analysis or providing hands-on experience and valuable outcomes. These internships are instrumental in skill development and career growth.

Placements at IIT(ISM) Dhanbad are strong, with students becoming eligible in their 7th semester. Top companies like Flipkart, Amazon, SLB, Square Point, Phonepe etc. visits the campus, offering roles in core, emgineering, analytics, software and consulting. The highest package exceed 60 LPA with an average of 16-18 LPA of top branches. Over 85% students secure placements annually. After completing my degree I plan to pursue a role in Sustainability and Energy sector combining my skills in consulting, analytics and strategy development.

The fee structure for the B.tech Program at IIT(ISM) Dhanbad is consistent for all students and includes various components.At the time of admission students are required to pay a one time fee of Rs.13,400. Aditionally there is a annual fee of Rs 10,468 which covers several items: Institute annual fees(Rs 1,000), Hostel Management fund(Rs 500), Basant fees(Rs 300), Student insurance fees(Rs 1,668), student Gymkhana fees (Rs 2,000) and project fees(Rs 5,000). Each semester students are charged Rs 8,600 for other recurring expenses which includes medical fees(Rs 800), Sports subscription (Rs 500), Hostel seat rent (Rs 2,000), water charges(Rs 300), Semester registration fees (Rs 200), examination and computer charges of Rs 1,000 each, library fees(Rs 600) and training and placement fees and electricity charges (Rs 1,000) each. For the monsoon semester the total fees is Rs 1,36,450 and for the winter semester the total fees is Rs 1,26,400 and for the summer semester the fees per course is Rs 10,000 with Rs 4,000 for the mess charges.These fee charges are for general students. There are mainly two scholarships one is MCM and other is Tution fee waiver: Tution fee waiver is not applicable to SC/ST/PWD as they are already exempted from this and family icome must be below Rs 5,00,000 and for MCM family income must be below Rs 6,00,000.

Campus life at IIT(ISM) is vibrant and diverse. The annual cultural fest, Srijan, is held in February and the techno-management fest occurs in the month of October, bringing students together for various events. The library is well stocked with books,journals and digital resources, ensuring academic support. Classrooms are equipped with modern technology like smart boards and projectors. Sports facilities are excellent with oppurtunities in Squash, cricket, football, tennis, swimming, chess, hockey, Table tennis, Badminton, Volleyball, Basketball etc. Extra-curricular activities thrive through students run clubs like Literary club, Robotics club, Enterpreneurship cell, Cyber labs etc., which foster creativity and skill development. These clubs significantly enhance the social and professional growth of students.

I choose IIT(ISM) Dhanbad due to its strong reputation, relevant curriculum and excellent placement oppurtunities compared to other colleges I applied to. I also consider factors like faculty expertise, campus facilities and the program alignment with my career goals. while I apllied to other institutes IIT(ISM) stood out for its well-established legacy in engineering and environmental sciences. I faced rejections from the top tier institutes, primarily due to intense competition and slightly lower scores in certain entrance exams. These setbacks taught me the importance of consistent preparation and better time management. The admission process at IIT(ISM) involves clearing national level exam like JEE Advanced for UG courses.Elgibility is based on academic scores and scores in entrance exams, with cutoff varying yearly depending on the competition. My overall admission process was rigorous yet rearding, reflecting the institutes commitment to quality education.

The faculty at IIT(ISM) Dhanbad is knowledgable and supportive, though self study is crucial for success. The course structure is relevant, with a mix of theoritical and practical aspects, but students need to supplement learning independently. Prof. Giri, known for teaching the image processing course, standout as one of the best faculty members. The exam system includes the mid sem exam (30 marks), and end-semester exam (50 marks), and 2 quizzes or an assignment (20 marks).The marking scheme ensures fairness, and mostly students successfully clear the exams.

Nightlife around IIT(ISM) Dhanabd is centered on campus activities. The main gate closes at 10 pm, while the hostel in time is 12 am. Late night hangouts includes the hostel canteens, Ruby park, the library, R.D. and of course the silent roads.The locality is relatively safe for night outings, but most prefer staying within campus limits. These experiences create a close-knit community, enhancing the overall college life.
