Remarks

When I started with my Engineering, I had heard that Pillai's is good for Time pass engineers. But I have to say, the college turned out to be pretty decent. The faculty and the crowd is what keeps the college alive. Also the Engineering department has become very strict. This college is restricted because of lack of facilities and stuck with the MU curriculum. The day the college becomes autonomous, it will fulfill it's great potential.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum has improved a bit. The core subjects remain intact as they should be. However , MU is slowly and steadily offering new courses relatable to modern technologies such as image processing, machine learning, big data analytics, etc. However, the subjects themselves don't contain much about the current developments. There is a huge scope of improvement for the practical subjects as well.

Internships Opportunities

The college does provide internships, but concerning only a handful number of students. The Training and Placement officer doesn't bring in much in terms of internships, also, if you want to apply for off campus internships the college doesn't provide any support for attendance issues.

Placement Experience

3

The placements are very moderate. Most of the mcns such as TCS, Wipro hire through off campus procedure about which TPO alerts us. On-campus companies don't offer great packages mostly in the range of 3-3.5 lakh (for the current year). Also the TPO doesn't allow people to sit even for dream companies (where salary difference is huge)once they get placed.

College Events

4

The college cultural fest is amazing. They bring you the best of ambiance and entertainment. However, they do need to work on management as they don't know how to manage such a tremendous crowd. This year Zakir Khan and Ayushman khurrana visited the campus. So yes, in short ,great cultural fest. The tech fest is something that I was disappointed by. They offer 1 day workshops on advanced topics, and end up hardly covering even the basic topics. I have been a part of many CSI workshops, they are moderate but one needs to go home and continue the workshop work then only it is useful.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Expensive. Especially for the services they provide. The classrooms don't have A.C. Leave A.C., the classrooms don't catch a single band of network and the benches are like the ones you have in school, all metal and brittle. They have started charging Gymkhana fees, fees for new id, and the gymkhana has been shifted away from the main campus. Also, we have to buys fest tickets and other events separately.

Fees and Financial Aid

Economically backward classes have been offered some sort of scholarship from the college. I don't have much information regarding this, but every year we receive an email regarding the XYZ scholarships for EB students.

Campus Life

4

The extracurricular activities are great. Every year there are competitions held for football, cricket, basketball, etc. The same competitions plus the ones for other sports including indoor are held during the fest. What isn't great that one might be unaware about these events (leaving the ones in alegria)

Hostel Facilities

3.5

I haven't stayed in the Pillai Hostel, but my friends have. They say it's pretty moderate. The food is good, the rooms are compact, but due to friendships, they have grown fond of the hostel. The basic facilities are to the point.

Alumni/Alumna

Not much connections with any senior at the college. However met a few during CSI workshops. They are extremely helpful and friendly people. Also, the Alumni of the college remain connected with the college. A alumni group recently came to the college with their startup. Also, an alumni visited last year who was working with an NGO.

Exam Structure

The exam structure is great. It's extremely tight and well scheduled. UTs have a gap of a day, 2 exams per day with a gap of 3 hrs between both the exams. Semester exams are held as per MU schedule that was great with 4-5 days holiday between each subject for preparation until now. Now it's a day gap.

Admission

Through DTE process. A percentile score combining the marks of 12th grade and JEE marks is used. According to the percentile the admission is evaluated and offered. A list of potential colleges with degree of interest has to be filled by the student, and then the student needs to wait for the response of the college.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty has a tremendous amount of knowledge. The teachers are very well qualified. However very few of them know how to convey it. I still think that the faculty can improve a lot in terms of practical experience.

Once student get placement offer from one company that student is not allowed to apply next company which package is near to previous company. Placement in Kit college in my year is 70 to 75%. The unplaced students have decided to go for MS.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because I have genuine interest in civil engineering. The faculty student ration is 1:50. Our faculties are well qualified they are master's degree holders in design and structural engineering. Some of them are PhD holders and many of them have done their master's from NIT and IIT. Term exams are scheduled after every 2 months. it is easy to pass because it consists of 30 marks only.

All faculty members are well-qualified and experienced. The course is very vast but the teaching faculty cover it through their extra lectures and practicals.
