Remarks
The college is good not great but good. The infrastructure is where it lacks the most otherwise the placements and teaching faculty are quite decent for a private college in India. The management is also helpful , if you're from outside KA , you might have some difficulty adjusting at first but then it becomes a piece of cake to blend in.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is slightly outdated but but is constantly adding new courses like data science and AI. You can select these as open electives in higher sem. The curriculum is same for all branches in first year and changes thereafter.
Internships Opportunities
The placement cell brings in various MNCs and other tech giants for internship roles. The stipend varies from company to company. Microsoft for example hires CS and IS students at a package of 25k pm and other companies are somewhere around that spectrum only.
Placement Experience
The placement are decent to good for a private college in India. It shouldn't be difficult to fetch a job as long as you keep your cgpa above 6.5 at least. Also, the placement cell helps you throughout the process and makes it easier for you to land your first job. Companies like Microsoft, PWC, Tata Consultancy Services, Amazon, Accenture, Infosys etc visit the college for recruitments.
College Events
The college celebrates various events throughout the year. 1.) Manthan, it's the annual techno cultural fest of BIT which is often graced by the presence of big names from the industry. 2.) Sports Day, BIT promotes sports in all forms. Thus annual sports day is one major event of the year. Although, most students just take it as a day off. 3.) Ganesh Utsav, Graduation Day, Alumni meets etc are other important events.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is different for people from KA and people outside KA. It's around 70k a year if you are from CET and 1.80Lpa if you come through COMEDK I.e. outside KA. For lower sections of the caste, it is relieved even more and comes up to around 30k if you're from KA.
Fees and Financial Aid
None that I am aware of. Although the college does offer scholarships to deserving candidates one needs to talk to the admin regarding this. Education loans are available for students needing them.
Campus Life
Labs are maintained nicely and have modern equipment for students to work on. Sports is also a regular affair at BIT with plenty of students representing the college in a variety of sports on various platforms. Apart from this, BIT has a lot of clubs one can get into. Retract, Leo, Tedx etc are some examples.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facilities are not up to the mark cause of limited infrastructure. It is advisable to find a pg or rented flat rather than staying in college hostel. You can find decent pg accomodations within 2kms from college.
Alumni/Alumna
Yes , the seniors are willing to help you out wherever they can provided you maintain a good relation with them. College host alumni meets for present students to get in touch with alumni. You can expect help from your seniors whenever you are stuck.
Exam Structure
The semester is divided into three internal assessments and one external assessment. Best 2 scores out of the 3 IA are considered for 20% of the total. The rest 80% is for externals. Assignments worth 5 marks are a part of the 20 marks IA holds.
Admission
The admission process is done through COMEDK or CET. I went for COMEDK. After getting your COMEDK score and rank, attend the counselling and hope that you get your desired branch at your rank. For CS or ECE you'd want your rank to be within 1.5-2k in COMEDK.
Faculty
The teaching faculty is highly qualified , Trained and non partial. They'd be willing to help you out anytime throughout your course , just maintain a good repo with professors and avoid skipping lectures.
