Bharathidasan University Engineering Course

The college is a nice place to learn and grow provided that will and motivation comes from within. The college does not have the habit of spoon feeding its students but rather let's them learn on their own. It provides good infrastructure and support system in which willing students can grow.

The curriculum was comprehensive. Unlike most engineering colleges in the state, the curriculum included biology in the first year. The curriculum concentrated on latest technology and trends in the field of education.

No, my college did not provide for any internships. But students were encouraged to look for internships on their own. When these internships clashed with the course period, the students were given full freedom and sufficient leave period to take up the internship.

Lot of companies do visit the Bharathidasan University Campus for placements. But due to the fact ours is an newly established course in the University, the packages offered are quite low. Since it is an integrated course most students who do not get placed continue with their M.Tech.

The number of events celebrated in the college are very few. These include only the few internal department events such as freshers party, hostel day, graduation event, etc. Cultural events are very few. But various symposiums and sporting events are conducted.

The fee structure is a fixed. It is quite reasonable. The yearly tuition fee amounted to about 21000 (might have changed). The fee is quite reasonable and feasible compared to other private institutions but is higher than Anna University Government colleges (Tamil Nadu State-governed Engineering University)

The college does not offer any scholarship for students. Government scholarship that are offered to students pursuing professional degrees can be availed. These scholarships are usually based on the annual income or economic position of the student.

The campus has decent lab facilities and amenities. Other extracurricular activities are encouraged and facility to pursue them are also provided. Sports facility in the college are quite good, with teams of various sports participating in inter-college sport events.

The hostel was reasonable. But since the college is located in Trichy which is hot during summer, summer can be a difficult time in the hostel. The hostel does not have any air conditioner facility. The hostel infrastructure is reasonable for the price they charge.

The college made communication with seniors possible at the very beginning with a freshers party. This allowed students to network and get to know their seniors. The seniors were very friendly and helpful. Since the course was new, and we were only the fourth batch enrolled in the course we did not have any alumni to contact.

The exam structure in the college is similar to most colleges which follow a semester based system. Each year is divided into two semesters and an exam is conducted at the end of them. Each semesters usually have 5 to 6 theory courses and 3 lab courses.

First saw the advertisement for the integrated course and applied for the same. I was then called to write an entrance exam based on 12th board exam syllabus. Selected students from this examination were given admission after a counselling session.

Most classes were lecture based with little or no interactive nature to it. Despite this faculty were easy going and friendly. They were easily approachable in the case of any doubts or clarification.
