SRM University - A college full of life.

Each college has its own pros and cons same goes for SRM UNIVERSITY, for pros it has great variety of students great Campus as if you are in palace, great labs, great student to proffersor ratio, varieties of delicacies inside the canteen etc, but the cons are maximum of IT recruiters visit the college and you will get minimal chance to get recruited in your dream company they will visit and now it's up to you how to grab the opportunity and utilise it.

The curriculum is good covers all the part and corners of your respective engineering course, the faculty have thorough knowledge in their field, but the main thing is that the course is not renewed as the technology is progressing it's still the old methodologies used in engineering, for example today to design any machinery we use software like CATIA, ASPEN but here you will draw them on charts which I believe is not the college doing but the IITS too follow the same it's the students who if wishes can learn the softwares at their own price.

They don't provide internship but you need to do internship on your own two times in the entire duration of 4 years one is summer internship and other is winter internsh I personally did it from HPCL Mumbai Refinery and got 5000? stipend back in 2014. Apart from this they will take you for industrial visit, but no stipend is provided.

College promises to give 100% placement and keeps its promise for sure, even if you are a poor student in terms of academics they will take extra classes for you in final year so that you can perform well during your placements, apart from that from 1st year onwards you will be having personality development classes,GD classes etc. basically to groom you.

We have one technical fest naming AARUSH, one cultural fest named MILAN, Freshers day, Alvida for the seniors, apart from all these all major national festivals are celebrated, also holi, diwali, ganesh chaturthi are organised by students and celebrated.

Fee structure was feasible when I did engineering it was 6 lakhs for 4 years but now they have increased it to 10lakhs only tuition fee apart from this there is hostel fee, examination fee for each semister, laundry fee, book fee, so it's expensive I would say.

There are scholarship for people whose parents income is less or if his/her parents are farmer. Apart from that 50%fee waiver is given to students with 90% in PCM in 12th also the toppers of every year.

We have great opportunity at SRM regarding our extra curricular activities, we have table tennis, basketball court, cricket ground, football ground, carrom room etc Labs are too equipped with all the machineries you need as per your course.

There were ample number of hostels for both girls and boys,there were variety of rooms available as per your choice, there is sharing rooms starting with 4 students in one room to 3 students and 2 students and single room too. Ac and non AC is another selection criteria. 3 star SRM hotel food aur mess food is another option.But mess is really good as compared to other colleges what I heard we had choice of eating either south indian food or north indian food

As an alumni I would say the network is pretty strong it's the quality of the students after college who all serve the company for long gaining trust of the company and compels the company to visit SRM again and again to the campus to recruit. Thus it also made Limca book of works records in hiring.

There are exams and exams only in the duration of 4 years we have 2 cycle test every month and one mid term exam and one semister exam in one semister, total of 8 semister so you will be having 32 exams in your total duration of 4 years which is excluding your practicals and engineering graphics and placement practice tests.

I have written the exam SRMJEE after my twelfth boards, the exam was paper pencil mode those days now it's completely online exam, after cracking the exam I was called for the councelliing round where branches are to be selected as per your merit and your your AIR in SRMJEE

The college is very diverse from students point of view like they are from all parts of the country but it's not the same for faculties they are like 95% from South India, this is not bad but diversity has its own pros for these kind of universities.Apart from that they are very knowledgeable in their area even we have retired ISRO and DRDO scientists as full time professor (mechanical branch) for our branch we have from BARC(CHEMICAL)
