Course Curriculum Overview

4

VNIT's curriculum is designed to prepare students for both industry roles and higher education. The inclusion of labs, projects and internships equip students with hand-on-experience making them industry ready. also supports students who are aiming for competitive exams like GATE, etc. Areas for improvement : increasing collabs with industries through workshops, seminars and live projects , regularly updating curriculum . Vnit follows 2 exams: mid sem and end sem . difficulty level - above average and depends on course . in sem 2, mid sems are in last week feb and end sem in 1st week of may leading to early end of semester .

Internships Opportunities

4

Summer internships for 3rd year student after 5th sem of 8-10 weeks from mid may to late july. semester long internship is also available. companies like BPCL, Larsen & Toubro , etc comes to offer internships. stipend is purely based on role assigned in company. My mentor rupesh gaikwad sir also got a summer internship in Bangalore.

Placement Experience

4

Students are eligible for campus placements in their final year or 7th sem ( btech students ) while for Mtech 3rd sem. The training and placement department provides necessary guidance to each student for carrer planning and future life. In 2023-24, highest package was 64 lpa and average - 11.93 lpa. Top recruiters like google, oracle, JP morgan, Siemens, etc. highest placement percentage was of CSE - 94.83% and average was 87%of all departments. My plan after getting degree is clear. I want to pursue higher education in IITs for Mtech through GATE exam as getting into IITs is my dream which lacked to complete through JEE Advance.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fee structure : one time - 15500 , tution fees per semester - 67725 , hostel & mess - 31500 no tution fees for SC,ST while 2/3rd fee remission for general/OBC/EWS for parental income less than 500000 scholarships : OPJEMS ( 80000 for meritorious students ) , Merit-cum-means , govt of india post-matric ( for SC?ST ) Fees have been increased along with time due to may be inflation

Campus Life

5

Aarohi is VNIT's annual festival followed by Axis as technical fest. Aarohi is held in october in span of 3 days with events like A La dance, cynosure, purple haz. Axis is held b/w feb and march for 3 days. activites like robotics, automation, design, electronics, etc are organised. In library, around 90k books are present with 12k journals and 9k periodicals. The classroom complex (CRC) is well equipped with digital projectors and green board. there are around 50 classrooms in CRC. There is a big sports complex in VNIT which offers facilities for cricket, football, basketball, kho-kho, lawn tennis, badminton, kabaddi, chess, table tennis, volleyball and many more. The institute hosts events like inter NIT tournaments. students here run various clubs like Octaves (Music club), Halla bol (Dramatics), 911 (dance), blitzkrieg (chess club), literacy and debate club, techincal clubs - IEEE, V-ACM, tesla, etc. These clubs provide platform for students to explore their hidden talents beyond academics.

Hostel Facilities

4

VNIT has 10 boys hostel and 2 girls hostel . Every hostel is well equipped with facilities like sports, water collers, tv, washrooms, etc. Rooms are furnished with basic necessities, and high speed lan ports are avilable for internet connectivity. The institute operated multiple mess Aaswad, swadanad for boys and Ruchira for girls. The menu includes north and south indian dishes along with some dishes from marathi cuisine. The quality of food is above average accrding to me. I dont know about off-campus room availability. hostel registraton is straight forward with rooms alloted just after admission.

Admission

I mainly applied to IIIT naya raipur for ECE branch . but due to NIT tag , I came in vnit nagpur. also vnit comes among tier 1 nits. VNIT is older nit leading to high reputation for excellence in education. Its legacy and alumni network are well developed as compared to IIIT naya raipur. Also there is option for branch change in VNIT, so I have chance to upgrade my branch from chemical to Electronics and communication. The admission is through JOOSA counselng after giving JEE mains exams. seats are alloted to students on basis of Jee Mains rank and seat availability. In 2024, cut offs went high like closing rank for chemical engineering at vnit was around 31000. There was many rejection due to low rank or seat availability like in MNNIT Allahbad, MNIT jaipur and many more.

Faculty

3

VNIT operates on a semester based credit system emphasizing continous evalution . every course credits are based upon lecture, tutorial and labs. mid terms - 25/30 marks , internals - 20 marks and end sem - 55/50 marks. grading system is as follows : AA - 10(outstanding), AB - 9(excellent) , BB - 8(very good), BC - 7(good), CC - 6(average), CD - 5(below average), DD - 4(marginal pass) and FF - 0 (fail) The proffesors are highly qualified and well experienced here. My favourite is Anvesh reddy sir . he taught us engineering drawing in sem 1 . He is assistant proffesor at mechanical engineering department . The way of he taught us is incredible with strictness and high level question practise . As such theres no one, I didnt like at all. in each semester , there are two exams : mid sem and end sem with quizes and assignments for internal marks . The paper level of exams are above average. In my class some of the students failed in many courses. Till now all the course taught is quite relevant in some areas for future.

Night Life

4

VNIT's campus is quie good even at night. The campus have library 24x7, gym to promote physical fitness, cafeterias. hostel in timings are 9'oclock for first year boys and girls. From 2nd year onwards no in timings for boys. The most common hangout spot is Y-point , mainly occupied with so called couples. For singles, hostel premises or canteen. off campus - futala lake, ambazari lake, swami narayan mandir and various other places are present. nagpur is generally safe for students, even during night.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because I have genuine interest in civil engineering. The faculty student ration is 1:50. Our faculties are well qualified they are master's degree holders in design and structural engineering. Some of them are PhD holders and many of them have done their master's from NIT and IIT. Term exams are scheduled after every 2 months. it is easy to pass because it consists of 30 marks only.
