Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course I opted here is Electrical Engineering. Although the curriculum of this course is vast but they have breaked down everything into credits. Each semester they take the midsem and end-sem evaluation exams and give marks as per the credits. Apart from engineering based subjects, topics like ethics, biology, electrochemistry, quantum physics are taught to students to increase their problem solving skills and ultimately making them tackle real-world problems. The faculties are very good especially of my department. They ensure the students are getting burdened with course pressure and so and so.

Internships Opportunities

4

The internship opportunities at NIT Rourkela are pretty much similar to what you get at other prestigious tier one NITs. You still need to get some good grades though. Some of the notable companies include:- 1. Google 2. Apple 3. Qualcomm 4. Microsoft 5. McDonald's 6. JP Morgan 7. Texus 8. TCS 9. Airtel 10. Reliance 11. Pepsico

Placement Experience

5

The placements of my college is really good. As usual the placement average of Computer science department is on the top. My department is electrical engineering it's average package is 12 lakhs per annum Last year electronics department showed a good placement of highest package of 1.2 CPA in Electronics and Instrumentation branch.

Fees and Financial Aid

So , I am providing the details of fee that i pay to study in this premium institute, The National Institute of Technology, Rourkela. For B-Tech students, Category - General Tution fees-62500 Other fees( exam, library, electricity etc) - 5000 Student activity fee-2000 Medical fee-2000 Establishment fee-0 Hostel seat rent - 5000 Convocation fee-0 Souvenir fee-0 Etc etc And it was data of 2nd sem

Campus Life

5

The campus life is not that bad . We have everything inside our campus form halls of residence to common gym and swimming pool. We have one cricket ground STS, one NCC ground, one central library and also reading rooms in respective hostels . We have one stadium DTS(Dillip Tirkey Stadium) where fests like celebrity night, innovision, NES, NITRutsav. We have more than 100 clubs inside our campus respectively Tech clubs, literature clubs, Cultural clubs, fashion clubs, FINANCE CLUBS and dance clubs. Some of the best are Cyborg, Webwiz, APS, Chitrang, ANC,RITVIC, ASME, SAE, etc. All the seniors are active in these groups and getting into one of these requires high skills.

Hostel Facilities

3

I currently reside in Vikram Sarabhai Hall Of Residence in NIT Rourkela Hostel facilities in NIT Rourkela are also quite decent with some minor exceptions. You can expect s decent network connection provide you can make use of the LAN facility provided in each of the rooms. You also get one washing machine per floor per block nd one water cooler at the same frequency. There is a facility of washerman in the hostel. To add to that, you also get the facility of weekly cleansing of your rooms. So maintaining hygiene is never an issue over here. The food in the dining hall is legit terrible and I on a personal level would recommend you to opt for green mess.

Admission

I am in a good NIT, it also means I was a JEE aspirant once so its natural I was also willing like others to get into a good IIT. But due to poor performance in JEE advanced, I have to get into NIT Rourkela, one of the best NITs. I also thought of other NITs but as it is very near to my house of residence, I prefered studying here . Also the placement stats are very good here .

Faculty

5

The faculties I liked the most till now are, Arya priyadarshini -english proof, Manas Ranjan sahoo sir, prof binod bihari sahoo - biology prof The faculties here are easily approachable. Their methods of teaching are student friendly. They make sure students are submitting assignments on time or not and giving marks nicely.

Night Life

4

The night life in hostels is really There is lot of hustle bustle in boys hostels. In campus of NITR, people after completing their classes in evening roam around the play areas and hostels with friends or someone special. Overally campus nightlife is not that bad. There is greenery all over which you can exploit for fun. there are regular jams. which can be quite intriguing. These things increase in various fests.

Placement Experience:

I would rate the placements at my college as 3 out of 5. Students usually become eligible for campus placements from the sixth or seventh semester, and a few well-known companies do visit the campus every year. The placement cell helps with basic training like resume building and interviews, and many students, especially from IT branches, manage to secure jobs. At the same time, the average salary packages are not very high and top roles are limited, so a lot of students also focus on skill development, off-campus opportunities or higher studies after completing their degree

Students are eligible for placement from their 3rd year onwards. It has been only 2-3 months but I have seen several companies arriving at the college, prominent ones being Flipkar,Deloitte, Xerox, TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Microsoft, Dell and several others including startups. There is no accurate data on how many offers have been made this year, but there are rumours that more than 95% of the eligible students have got placements. After getting a degree my plans are if I dont land into a satisfying job then I will start my preparation of the military or start a new business.
