- The rules and restrictions here are strict
- They conduct 2 mid sem along with final semester exam which makes the schedule quite hectic
- Outing and leaves rules are very strict here and girl is to boy ration is 1:3
Course Curriculum Overview
Since I had interest in Computer science and there is scope of data science that's why I took cse specialisation in data science. Here course taught here not only focuses on theoretical portion but also cover practical knowledge. The teaching method is good here. Usually we get very less time for exams but if we are attentive in class , it won't be difficult.
Internships Opportunities
By the end of 2nd year , every student must do a summer internship as a part of curriculum. VIT provides internship to almost 50% students in companies like Amazon , google with monthly stipend upto 1-1.5 lakh . VIT also focuses on hand on experience on project through various courses like introduction to engineering, digital system design etc.
Placement Experience
During the start of 7th sem , students starts sitting for campus placements. Companies like Google , microsoft, infosys, meta visit here and take students on the basis of their skills . The highest package was 1cr and average is around 10-11 lpa Almost 100 % students get placed by the end of the course. I would like to sit for placement as of now.
Fees and Financial Aid
VIT uses category system for course fees . There are 5 categories here with yearly fees ranging from 2 lakh to 5 lakh. This category is decided by exam conducted by vit i.e. VITEEE .For 2nd category 304000 +3000(caution fees) for 1st year and then 304000 for rest 3 years.There are no other charges. Vit also offers scholarship who secure ranks less than 1000 in VITEEE.
Campus Life
VIT conducts two large annual fest i.e Vibrance (Cultural fest) and technoVit (technical fest) along with more than 200 small events . VIT is highly equipped with high class library and smart classrooms. If a person has interest in sports , then vit has all its arrangements. The are more than 100 clubs here which includes both technical and cultural clubs.
Hostel Facilities
Facilities provided in hostels are study table ,chair, cupboard, bed , ac , fans , tublights with daily cleaning service. The mess includes both north and south indian foods. The hostel registration process is totally online and very easy Also one can go for pg in nearby areas
Admission
I have also applied for Jaypee institute of technology JIIT and my admission was also confirmed there but I took VIT over JIIT just because of there placements records and teaching technology. VIT takes students on the basis of ranks secured in self conducted exam VITEEE. Only less than 1lakh rank holders are allowed to take admission in Chennai campus .
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is 1:70 here. The teachers are very helpful and ready to teach us. We can approach them any time for doubts. My python and oops faculty Dr. Radha and Dr. Malini are one of the best faculty for their way of teaching and knowledge. VIT conduct 2 mid sem of 50 marks each which futher converts to 15 marks , also the 2nd mid sem is open notes. And final semester exam is of 100 marks which converts to 40 of the total mark. The course taught here are very relevant to the curriculum
Night Life
Since VIT doesn't allow students to roam in the campus after 9 pm for boys and 8 pm for girls . Although we can go for night library till 12 midnight. During day , there are various hangout places inside the campus along with gym , libraries etc. Canteen are the favourite spots among students
