Course Curriculum Overview

4

Bcom hons is supposed to be a mix of BBA and CA. The curriculum includes financial accounting, business laws, taxation, finances and marketing. If you're planning to go for MBA or you're preparing for CA with the course, it a good course to move forward with. It gives you a lot of knowledge in finance and law and average to little knowledge in other aspects of corporate like marketing, pr, operations etc. It prepares you well for finance positions if you're looking for job just after the course. The areas of improvement must be to add a little more about Marketing, Management, Operation, etc. The teaching method of the faculty is quite nice but the administration should focus on retaining the faculty instead of changing them every now and then. The exams were conducted at the end of every semester. They used to be of 3 hours as it was subjective. The internal exams were quite easy whereas the externals used to be moderate or difficult.

Placement Experience

3

Students in 6th semester were eligible to sit in the placement drive. Companies like WIPRO, ICICI, TCS, Federal bank and many more local companies. The highest package offered was 10LPA to a BCA student by TCS. The lowest i think was 1.8LPA. My friend got placed in ICICI with a role of sales assistant with a package of 4.5 LPA. 30-40% of the student were placed. As it's undergraduation 50% of them were themselves not interested in taking the placement as they had to go for a higher including me. My plan was to go for MBA.

Fees and Financial Aid

My tuition fees in first year was around ?90,300 and in the second year was ?88,000 and third year was ?86,000. The caution deposit was ?5000. The registration and admission fees i could not recall very well but it the registration was around ?1000-1500 and admission was the same or slightly more but less than ?5000. The first year tuition fees for BBA was ?98,700. Second year was ?60000 and third year was the same ?60000. The caution deposit was the same which was ?5000 and was refundable. There was no lab fees. The books we got were also issued by library and we had to give them back at the end of the semester there was no additional charges for that as well. The university GGSIPU provides assistance under a scheme called Merit-cum-means linked financial assistance scheme. To apply for this scheme you require a rashan card and the family income i think should be within 2.5-3LPA. My friend applied for this scheme and got a refund of ?70000 from the first year fees. However, the application for the scheme did not show up at all in the second and third year.

Campus Life

2

There was almost no fests or extra curriculars in the college itself. But the fest conducted by the University was quite big and good. The cultural fest of the university was called Anugoonj. It was one of a kind fest with artists like shreya ghoshal, armaan malik, salim suleman, etc. It was the most happening fest of the year. It was generally held in February. The college itself didn't conduct any sports event itself as we didn't have a ground. But again there used to be sports fest conducted by the university. There were very little to no extra curriculars in the college. There was no club, society, etc in the college during my time. The college life was average.

Admission

I applied to DU for BMS and there was a specific exam for this particular course at that time, DUJAT. I did clear the exam but i was getting a low grade college so my family suggested to go for Sirifort as it was a top ranked college in GGSIPU. To get admission in Sirifort institute of management, i gave IPUCET. The common entrance test for all colleges of GGSIPU. Sirifort accepted students upto rank 1200 as far as i remember. For admission in BCOM HONS, you must have maths as a subject with 40%+ marks in 12th.

Faculty

4

The faculty to student relationship was quite good. As the faculty was very friendly and supportive non of the students hesitated to ask anything or ask for help. They were quite approachable almost everytime. They did not mind answering to calls or texts during the exam time. They were there to help the students almost everytime. Well, the faculty keeps on changing everytime. During my time in college the teachers i really loved were Shabnam Mam, Venus Mam, Neha Mam, Rubina Bano mam and Pawan sir. They were quite supportive, helped us at any time of the day and during their time in the class the atmosphere used to be quite chill and comfortable. They did not only focus on the syllabus, they used to talk to students and maintain a nice student-teacher relationship. The only faculty i did not like was the director. He was very rigid, never listened to anything any student had to say whether it be anything. There are external semester exams at the end of every semester. It is conducted by the university and we're alloted centers for these exams. The centers are generally other colleges of GGSIPU. These exams are not very easy, the difficulty level can range from average to quite difficult. However, as they were subjective exams very less students hardly 2-3 used to fail the exams. Except these we also had internal semester exams before the external ones. These were conducted by the college itself and were quite easy.

Night Life

3

Well, there was not nightlife and the college didn't offer any hostel and most of the crowd was from Delhi itself. However if you took a pg near rohini east metro, there was a lot of student crowd as there were many colleges nearby. The nightlife in that area was good but not great. Our favorite hangout place used to be 24/7.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Well i choose this course because I didn't got what I wanted. Many students are from arts background who got this course because they had no option. The curriculum is same as school all chapters and everything. The law section is new. About buisness and law and everything. Rest is same. Changes in curriculum is not in their hands. But if they could actually change the accounting syllabus. The timing of exams is normal 2:30 to 6:30. And internal test taken by perspective teacher are according to their time and class. They will take retest incase you didn't attended.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I really was interested in finance and taxation from the beginning. This course aligned rightly with my interests. The curriculum is based on real world applications. Corporate accounting, financial accounting, company law, human resource management, these are very important considering change in the job market and business world. Not only real world applications but one can also go for further academic pursuit such as a master's degree and research. This makes the curriculum really diverse. Some areas of suggestions would be that in theory subjects there should be practical activities. Just like vestibular training. The time of exams is just right. After the completion of syllabus of a particular subject, we are given 10 days of preparation leave. The exams are moderate and it really tests our ability and knowledge based on our studies.

For placements fifth semester student are eligible for placements. Since it is best commerce college. Companies like big 4, google, bank of America, Goldman Sachs, bcg, bain and co., Sbi, paytm, meesho and many more comes. The highest package was 36 LPA this year from meesho for senior analyst roles. Average package is 10 LPA. Most of the placements take place in consulting, marketing, auditing, finance and analyst roles. Around more than 50% of the students get placed. My plan is to take placements in consulting and finance roles after the degree from the college.

The placement of my college is good if you perform well in the process of selection, as I told earlier, the placement cell is pretty active, so you would have a good number of options. I will be naming the good companies that visited my college, they were EY, Deloitte, DE SHAW, TCS, KPMG, etc. Numerous offers were made and I would say over 80% students in my batch got placed in good companies.

In open learning management.. they provide hard copy of books tk prepare whole semester and this is a very good thing because those books are covering whole semester in some books only and there is a v good thing I found... At the end of every chapter they provide summaries and mock questions for every chapter to analyse the weakness and strength. the areas for improvements in the Course Curriculum and Teaching Methods--- they should also provide a mock test paper as per the paper model and latest questions or updated topics with to the point topics The difficulty is normal if candidate is completely prepared...
