Remarks
No sports ground. No canteen. Infrastructure weak. No girls changing room. Unhygienic washrooms with a pungent smell. No parking area. No area for NCC cadets to practice. Dysfunctional library. No halls for music or dance practices.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum and it's structure is designed keeping in mind the requirements and necessities of it. However the exam structure could be more refined and leaning towards practical approach of the subjects, rather than focussing on the rote route.
Placement Experience
The job profiles provided by the placement cell aren't very interesting. One can't be expected to work at a BPO after being a commerce graduate. None of the BIG 4 come for the placements, except for Ernst and Young.
College Events
The college organizes Surlok, the annual cultural fest which sees participation from the whole university. Tvesh, the finance and entrepreneurship festival is celebrated each other with much pomp and show. The event has plenty of interesting events to look upto like Startup Mania, Ruminate, Treasure Hunt etc. There is a dearth of seminars however relating to the academic field, in relation to courses pursued. Emanation, the annual commerce festival provides an opportunity to the students to test their knowledge.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Very feasible. SGND Khalsa being a government college, under the umbrella of Delhi University takes into consideration the aspect of students from all economic backgrounds, hence the fee is a meagre Rs. 18000 a year. However some other DU colleges have much lower fee structure.
Fees and Financial Aid
There is no scholarship or loan facility, except for university toppers. The university toppers have the option of getting their fee waived off to a significant extent. No events are organized to cultivate talent.
Campus Life
There is no ground in the college, minimising any sort of scope for enrichment of sports among students. Computer labs are deficient in terms of infrastructure. The benches in the classes have nuts peeking out of them.
Hostel Facilities
I did not opt for a hostel during my bachelors as the college does not have one of its own. The students arrange their accommodation on their own, with majority of them staying in paying guest houses.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni network is negligible in existence. There is no structural mechanism in space for that, nor is there any way to reach out to the senior students, in order to take into account their insights and/or suggestions.
Admission
The students is required to get registered on the DU website and fill a form, through which he/she can get admitted to all the colleges under the university. The cutoffs of all the college under the Delhi University are released in a cumulative manner. In accordance to the marks fitting the cutoffs released by individual colleges, the students then get admitted to it in a rather cumbersome process. The student is required to visit the college along with the supporting documents and DU form.
Faculty
Some members of the faculty aren't too engaging with the students, nor are very appreciative of extra curricular participation. At more than a few instances, the teachers grade the internal assessments on the basis of attendance, rather than their performance in it.
