My College Experience

I have a very positive mindset about our college. Because everyone in this college from my classmate to my faculty, everyone helped me through my those tough 4 years in college. In my personal experience this the best facilty anyone can get in any government Engineering college.

For the 1st year I was a bit surprised because they were teaching us all the basics of all the streams. From the 2nd year we got separated and started to learn about our chosen streams. Our Examination structure was Semester basis. In every year there were 2 semesters each with a gap of 6 months usually happened in the month of December and June. Before every semester there were 2 class test called Internal exams in every subject 2 months apart from each other. Semester Examination was on 70 marks and 2 Internal exam was on 25 marks and 5 marks was on our attendance.

Our college is one of the five Government Engineering colleges in West Bengal. This college has a Placements records near 75% top companies like Tata Consultancy Services, Tech Mahindra, Wipro etc.Our college provides Internships. It has very good stipend process for student belongs to SC, ST, OBC and Minority students. Our College provides a special stipends to students belonging to family with very low income. They provide them with Full tution fee waver and half tution fee waiver scheme. It changes every six months so that maximum student can avail this.

The most famous events celebrated in our college in the Annual Festival called Espectro. Celebrity like Neha Kakkar, Arman Malik and other celebrities come every year in this event. Other than this every year there is a Reunion event happend, Freshers Party for Newly admitted students both Department wise and altogether.

First of all this is a Government College so maximum fees and expenses are paud by the government of west bengal. Students has to pay a very little amount to study in this college. Students have to pay only Tution fees in every semester and the examination fee for every semester which is around Rs.1200 for every student. But Tuition fee vary with Department. The most expensive is Information Technology department for which tution fee in Rs. 12000 per semester.For other departments this fee is reasonably low as Rs. 3000 to Rs. 6000 per semester.

I belongs to Schedule caste category. So I availed the Governments Scholarship . There is a very interesting scholarship available in our college for students who are very good in academics but there family income is reasonably low. They get a half tution fee waiv or full tution fee waiv depending on their family income. Other than that every Government scholarship is available in our college.

Laboratories in our colleges are very advanced. Every labratory is equipped with adequate and advanced materials according to the needs of the students. There are many indoor and outdoor sports facility available in our college like Cricket, football, badminton, table tennis etc. Extracurricular activities like singing, dancing , guitar, and other musical instruments are available in our College Union Room. Every year there is a Football match organised between faculty and students. Every year a inter college football, cricket, table tennis, mobile games like COC, Call of Duty, FIFA organised in our college.

Although I had not opted for Hostel but I know few things about our college hostel. There are a total of 4 hostels in our college 1 of which is for woman. 3 of those hotels are in our college campus only 1 hostel is a bit far from our college. Infrastructure in every hostel is very very good. There are 24*7 guard, water available. Students don't have to pay for staying there. They just have to pay for the Meal they eat there everyday.

The best thing in our college is our Alumni network. Our Placement Record is more than 75% every year because of this strong alumni network. They meet every year and they are in touch every day through various social platforms. They help present students in finding job and help them guide through different opportunities.

In West Bengal there is a entrance examination called Joint Entrance Examination for students currently reading or passed class 12th. I participated in that examination in 2013. An Merit list is prepared based on the number obtained by students. Then there is a online counseling process where passed student rank their desired colleges and streams. In 5 round the counseling happened and I got admitted in the first round in KGEC.

Frankly speaking , faculty of our college was really good and helpful specially the faculty of our Information Technology streams. Except the faculty of Chemistry Department. Head of the Chemistry department was a bit rude to us otherwise every faculty members were really helpful. They gave us their email address, WhatsApp number, even personal numbers so that we can contact them whenever required. Specially they were very adjustable with timings. Sometimes they postponed a class because some students couldn't come to class because of some Train problem. In one sentence they are the Best faculty I have gone to till date.
