Life and opportunities at SRM University

I chose this course as i scored good marks in accountancy in my 12th board examination and was interested to learn more about accounting and finance in general.It doesn't prepare us that well for the real world as it is only theoretical and not much practical work is done.They could include more practical work to improve this course.All examinations are held in 1.5 months gap and they are not that difficult when you study for it

Internship offers are offered by a lot of multi national companies and well knows brands like tata , accenture ,etc. For students with good cgpa . Students who have an average cgpa can search for interships outside the university.

Students become eligible for campus placement in the 6th and final semester.The average package is 5 lakhs per annum.Almost 90% of students get placed through campus placements.I plan on doing masters in business admissions after getting my degree.

The Bachelors of commerce ( Accounting and finance)[B.com A/F] course at SRM University of science and technology at kattankulathur ,Chennai has an overall fees structure of Rs.3,40,000.The fees for the year is 1,20,000 while 1,10,000 is the fees for the next two years.The caution fees for this course is Rs.10,000 which is a refundable security deposit. Application and admission fees cost about Rs.1200.There are no development or lab fees for this course at SRM University.There is no special quota for SC/ST Students in this college but there is a need based scholarship for students whose household income is below Rs.2,00,000 per annum.State and National level sports players get benefits in course and hostel fees.All my classmates and batchmates pay the same fee of Rs.3,40,000 for this course at SRM University.

There is an annual cutural fest named milan. Its usually held somewhere between November - March.There are books for every topic in the university library which students can borrow.Every class is equipped with a projector.There are inter departmental sports events every month and students who have played for the state or district can join the college sports club.Students can also borrow sports items and play on the ground if they feel like playing.

I applied for Madras Christian College, Tambaram ,Chennai and VIT ,Chennai.I got an admission at MCC but rejected it as i felt like SRM would offer a more balanced experience of cultural events, studies and a good college life.I didnt get into VIT as i messed up my interview.There are no exams for admission but students applying should have a minimum overall percentage of 75% in their 10th and 12th examinations.

There is a class tutor for every class and every class has 5 or more subject teachers of which one is the class tutor.The faculty to student relationship is alright and teachers are friendly and approachable.I like my class tutor and accounts sir Mr.Thinesh kumar as he is a professor who balances both fun aspects and studies when teaching.I dont dislike any faculties particularly.There are 4 examination in a semester.These are CT - 1, CT - 2 ,Model examination and semester examination . The first three mentioned exams are considered for internals and the higher your marks in internals the easier it is to clear your semester exam.The internals and externals should add up to 40 for you to pass in your semester examinations.Around 25 students have failed in one subject or another in the first semester .The course curriculum is fairly relevant.

The university also has a well equipped gym, swimming pool and playgrounds.There is a cafeteria for every block in the campus and it also has a common food court.Classes start at 8:15 am and end at 1:20 pm.
