Course Curriculum Overview

5

I feel that the curriculum of Scaler School of Technology is one of the best curriculums out there for Computer Science education. Everything is structured for streamlined, efficient and hands-on learning of a student. Another great thing about the curriculum would be the fact the we have a year long internship in our 3rd year. Almost everything is perfect in terms of curriculum, this there aren't anything specific i'd like to change in the curriculum/teaching methods. The exams are quite frequent. We have an exam almost every month, either from BITS (The parallel degree we persue) or from scaler itself. the difficulty depends on the subject.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee that I will pay will approximately be 23 Lakhs. This is the fee for my batch 2024-28, there are changes in the future batches. but for me yearly its approximately 571k. They have a tuition fee of 1,383,000. there is also the BITS degree of BSc in CS (online) which we do parallely which has a separate tuition fee of 313,000. The admission fee was 50k, which was used to block our seat during admission. There are mainly 2 scholarship options, one is of excellence, in which a student can get scholarship on the basis of some tech/non-tech project, or excellent performance in competitive exams like JEE/BITSAT.

Campus Life

4

I would say the campus is a bit lacking. While we do have events which helps us socialise, the campus itself is quite small. The hostels are good but can be better as well. We do have events from time to time, grand events are rare, but events for fesitvals is quite common. Sadly not much budget is allocated to thesse smaller events, so it might appear as underwhelming to solve. Also the lack of an auditorium adds to this. We do have a library, but it doesn't contain that many books. Most books are cs related. Classroom facilities are top notch, we have huge classrooms with projectors. we also have a lot of study spaces where we can study or work. As far sports facilities are concerned, they are slighly underwhelming. We have a small turf which has a basket ball court, a small football fied and a tennis court. There are quite a few clubs at sst, most of which are student led. The Orators Society, The competitive Programming Club, The Open Source Club, The media Club

Hostel Facilities

4

I would say that the hostel rooms are actually quite good. The rooms are a bit on the smaller side, but thankfully all the rooms have attached washroom. We also get hot water frmo 6-10 morning and evening, which is really great. There are room cleaning service which comes in every day to clean the rooms and the attched washrooms. It is not that expensive, given the facilities that we are provided. Approx 1.5L per year for double sharing. and 1.25L per year for triple sharing

Admission

I choose this college primarily bcoz of the curriculum, its really good and industry relevant. If I had to make a comparison between my college and other colleges, i would say that sst, its really great in terms of education. Its also really great in helping students with ideas The admission process of my college is quite different from most generic colleges. We first have to give an exam called NSET, and if we qualify NSET, we can then move onto the personal Interview Round, where an interview will ask us questions related to maths as well as personal goals and aimbitions in life. After the Interview rounds are over, if you get selected you will be given an offer letter. There are two eligibility criterias, one, you must have scored a minimum of 60% in your class 12th board exams. 2nd, you must be less than or equal to 20 years of age. There are multiple intakes, which happen almost every month from Jan till July/August, and the cutoff vaires in each intake and it averages around 40% . There are primarily two sections, Maths and Logical reasoning, having weightage of 55% and 45% respectively. I didn't apply to any other college apart from sst as I knew I wanted to join here, thus i had prepared for quite a while, despite it being a new colllege. It was quite a big risk, but thankfully it worked out.

Faculty

5

The faculty consists of instructors who had worked in tech companies. They are really nice, and teach really well. The feedback from the students are taken into consideration incase there are issues with the faculty. The student-instructor ratio is approximately 220:1, yet learning is very smooth as we have access to a portal called Scaler Dashboard The faculties/instructors i really like are Mrinal Sir (Web Dev instructor), who is really sweet and teaches really well, and also Kshitij Sir (DSA Instructor) who is one of the best teachers i've seen in my life. There are no such instructor in particular whom i don't like. We have exams almost every month, and the difficulty depends on the topics we have.ledge and critical thinking, often not covered directly in the class. Approximately 5-10% students get F grade in some exams. As far as relevancy is concerned, the curriclum is very relevant, and mostly contains the things that are required in the industry.

Night Life

5

The night Life is actually pretty good. Obviously there are students who sleep early, but there are also night owls who work all night. You can go around the entire hostel during the night, and spend time with friends as you see fit. There is also a small cafe in the 5th floor which remains open till 5AM to help with the night cravings. I like to hangout in the 5th floor in the mess area with my friends and study during the night. Sometimes I just saty in my room and game all night. There is a study room as well which gets occupied by people who study at night. There isn't any gym, we do get a cult pass with which we gain access to gyms, but those gyms are independent, thus not a part of the hostel. The are not allowed to leave the hostels from 10:30 PM to 5AM. If we are within the campus premises, it is a safe space.

From final year the students can apply for the placements. At least 60% should be there to be eligible for the placement. Many companies provides placements in this college like infosys, Accenture, Mahindra and many more. The average package as per the company is 200000 per annum and the highest package is 700000 per annum. My plans after getting the degree is to go to abroad for my post graduate.

Placement Experience:

Usually there are placements in our college. If any student does not get a placement the faculty guide us what we can do next like the companies in which we can apply and how we can go further. In my course after finishing the bachelors degree you can further study masters it is available in our college itself or yoj can aplly for companies but if you do your masters you have a better opportunity and high posts for you better career. The course is of 8 semester you become eligible for campus placements in 7th semester. The last year that is seventh and eighth semester is basically practical and lot of projects provided. There various companies are seniors have applied and offered for example the genetic company in Bangalore that is Med gen. The highest package offered is 50000 and the average starts from 25000 placements in college. There is 75 percentage of students getting placements from our college. My plans after getting the degree is to go for further studies and do the masters after that i would like to do job along with my phd, this is my plan after getting my bachelors degree.

Most of the students after completing four years, continue to stay here to get Masters degree after one more year and pursue PhD from world renowned institutions. Very few people (<7/100) per batch will sit for campus placements and most of them will be selected with a good annual package of 30000 at an average. Some students, mostly Physocs majors can give government exams like ICRB, GATE to join ISRO and BARC as scientists
