A true life of a student at nit jalandhar

The first year is totally irrelevant.Things like carpentry being taught I agree it is interesting to learn various things like carpentry welding etc but why grade them by unecessary vivas and then a practical exam why why.I am from CSE branch where will I use this I was excited the first day thinking these will be really interesting to learn different types of work but then they gave a sheet and said read this and there will be viva in the 3rd class taking the fun out of it.Also i have an electrical subject I agree that computer is ran by electricity and it should be taught and is relevant to some extent but why making its lab too why will I arrange AC DC corciuts while in a software job.The real world application is just not there just teaching theory without telling its applications.

Microsoft is the main internship collaber of our college followed by other companies like adobe.The companies require you to have good projects not copied from github or AI and along with that good communication skills

Campus placment is good especially in the cse branch last year the highest went upto 52lpa while average increasing to 15lpa compared to 13lpa last year. The placements are offered in 4th year while internships in 3rd year.The top companies include google,microsoft,adobd etc.The percentage of students placed is really high of 91% which is consistent from past few years.My plans are to get in a big tech comapny like google or microsoft as the role of software developer.

The fees for the odd semester for a day scholar of general category is 84500 INR which includes tution fee of 62500 and other charges of 22000.For Sc/St/Pwd category it is 22000.For students whose family annual income is less than 1 lakhs it is also 22000.For those whose family income is between 1 lakh and 5 lakh it is 42840 and for all others it is 84500. For even semester it is 79500 for day scholar of general category.For Sc/St/pwd/less than 1 lakh family income it is 17k and for those whoe family income is in range 1lakh to 5lakh it is 37840.

I am a fresher and dont know much about fests but last week there was an acoustic night where the band named octaves came and it was really good I heard from seniors that the fests are good.The library is filled with diversity of books.Our classroom has a whiteboard blackboard a smartboard along with a projector.The Sports here is okayish.The social life is good too.

I didnt choose this college because I really wanted to get in but beacuse this was the best rated nit i could get based on my jee score.The admission process required getting good percentile in jee and minimum 75% aggregate in class 12th.

Faculty is good with all having phds in their respective subject.Some are not good though even though they have knowledge they dont know how to teach.All subjects are of 100 marks 10 from quizes 10 from assignemnts and 30 of mid sem and 50 of end sem. Midsem is of 2 hours and of 30 marks and endsem of 3 hours of 50 marks.

The nightlife for 1st year is really boring with the hostel deadline of 6pm.Everything opens up after 6pm like gym tt room pool table but we are resteicted to go out. But from seniors I have hear late night table tennis is what they cherish.
