My overall experience has been very good in this campus till now and one beautiful about this college is that there exists a very strong unity among the students being an host elite its been an awesome journey till now.As a whole, this college is very good and time will pass in a whisker. The environment all around and on the campus is very good and encouraging. You can spend the best four years of your life here.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is bit heavily loaded especially in Mechanical, Civil, and Electrical. Measures are being taken to make students aware of the present methods, technologies, and materials to make the student's industry ready. The course curriculum is vast and laborious. You will spend many more sleepless nights working compared to your peers.For B Tech M tech Dual degree, we have total 10 semesters with an option to exit after 8 semesters (switch to B Tech). Each semester has mid-semester exams which are one of the factors that decide your internal marks. Also, class tests and assignments are counted in Internal Marks which are 30/100. Semester exams are 70/100. And finally, the GPA is calculated.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Examination fee in this institute is a bit expensive which is the same as that of the NITs and less as compared to the IITs. This is the fee structure for the Institute Caution Money (One Time, Refundable) 3,000 Tuition Fee (per Semester) 62,500 Other Fees (per Semester) 4,500 Total 70,000.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yes, there are many scholarships based on performance in sports or academics. Also, loan facilities are available through the SBI branch present in the campus.Also there are scholarships available for the needy students from GABESU unit,. meritorious students get these scholarship through it's Academic performance.
Hostel Facilities
Infrastructure wise, the college is average. However, it is improving day by day. The hostels are average when compared to the ones which have been built recently as they are really good.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni network is quite good. It is India's second oldest engineering institute and has its alumni all over the globe and working all over in different companies and organizations starting from Indian Railways to IAS and starting from ISRO to NASA. The alumni are very attached and quite helpful.
Admission
I got admission in this college through JEE MAINS.Admission in the following courses is accepted on the basis of valid state/national level entrance exam scores. For the undergraduate programmes in engineering, the Institute accepts JEE Main/WBJEE scores. On the other hand, GATE scores are accepted for post-graduate programmes in engineering and technology.
Faculty
You'd find one of the best faculty members of India in IIEST Shibpur. They are highly qualified and extremely knowledgeable about their field. They are very helpful, friendly and hardworking. They will clear all your doubts at their best. Coming to the fact of the student to faculty ratio, though the statistics are not known, it is more than sufficient.
