Asia's oldest technical institute

Institute's history is a positive factor of the institute. The institute is the oldest technical institute in the whole Asia. This institute started with the civil engineering department and now leading in every department throughout the whole world.

The course curriculum is slightly different here. The usual semester is of 4 months followed by 2 months vacations. Exams are done twice a semester. One when the mid-semester is over and one at the semester end.

The placement percentage is quite high in the institute and most students get a job of higher position due to their qualifications. The institute also provides opportunities for internships for their students as well as for students of other colleges. M.tech. students receive a stipend of 12400 RS. per month and Ph.D. scholars receive a stipend of 31000 RS. per month under the MHRD scheme.

Almost all the events, which are important like festivals and any day which is important to the nation, are celebrated inside the campus. Apart from this, there is one cultural fest named 'Thomso' and one technical fest named 'cognizance' is organized annually.

The fee structure is quite feasible for all students. The students, who come from an economically weaker section, are rewarded with a scholarship where they don't need to pay any tution fee. Masters and Ph.D. scholars receive a monthly stipend so they can bear their expenses easily.

If we talk about extracurricular activities, this institute is the right choice. Institute focuses on student's both academic and extracurricular. The labs are designed with modern infrastructure and don't lack anywhere in terms of the facility. A dedicated sports complex is provided within the campus which is well maintained. The courts and playgrounds and pool are in such condition that any national event can be organized here.

Hostel infrastructure is average and the facilities provided are common room, playground, gymnasium, canteen, fruit shop, mess, tailor Shop, salon. The environment of the hostels is very peaceful and calm.

The alumni network of the IIT Roorkee is quite prominent. They have made the institute proud by working in higher departments and sectors. They offer various internship programs for current students and they help in any other way they can.

I got admission through GATE. On the basis of the score achieved in GATE, counseling is done by COAP. There are several rounds of counseling and one can freeze their choice at any round. After that, security money is to be deposited to secure the allotted seat and the admission is confirmed.

The faculty of the institute is very impressive in terms of providing education. All the faculties have earned the name in their respective fields. Thier way of providing education is slightly different from the usual faculties.
