Course Curriculum Overview

4

I’d rate the course curriculum as solid and fairly relevant for the field. One thing that influenced my decision to choose this course was that the structure covers both core computer science subjects and the newer, in-demand areas like data, coding, and applied tech skills. It feels more future-focused than the older, outdated programs a lot of colleges still run. Exams follow a predictable schedule with internals, mids and final semester exams. They happen on time and don’t feel random or rushed. The difficulty level is moderate. If you attend classes and keep up with the lab work, they’re very manageable, but you can’t leave everything for the last week or it becomes stressful. Overall, the curriculum is well-structured and reliable, with a clear path from basics to more advanced concepts.

Internships Opportunities

4

Internship opportunities at the college start becoming accessible once you move into higher semesters. The Training & Placement Cell usually brings companies for roles like web development intern, software trainee, QA intern and data analytics intern. Some internships come with stipends, usually in the modest range, depending on the company. The idea is to give you hands-on exposure without expecting high-level complexity. These projects help you understand how real workflows operate and give you something useful to add to your resume.

Placement Experience

4

Students start becoming eligible for campus placements from the sixth semester, and that’s when most training sessions for aptitude, coding and soft skills also begin. The placement cell is active throughout the year and brings in a mix of product-based, service-based and mid-tier tech companies. The number of offers varies every year, but CSE-related branches usually get the highest share of opportunities. Companies come for roles like software trainee, analyst, QA, support engineering and web development, so there’s a good spread of entry-level roles.

Fees and Financial Aid

I’m from the General category, and the yearly tuition fee at Chandigarh Engineering College is ?1,65,000. This amount already includes the academic charges like development and lab fees, so you don’t get hit with a lot of hidden add-ons later. Apart from that, there is a one-time caution fee during admission which is refundable at the end of the course, and the registration or admission charges are paid only in the first year. There aren’t separate compulsory charges for things like labs every semester, which keeps the fee structure predictable.

Campus Life

4

Campus life is pretty balanced here, with a calm social environment and enough clubs to keep things interesting when you want a break from studies. The main annual fest happens around March, and there are smaller technical events during the year that bring some energy to the campus. The library has a solid range of textbooks, reference material and journals, so you don’t really struggle for resources. Classrooms have projectors and basic tech setups that work reliably, and the labs are maintained well enough for regular practicals.

Admission

I chose this college mainly because the overall setup felt more reliable than the other private options I checked. The campus was cleaner, the environment was more structured and the placement track record looked stronger compared to the rest. A few of the colleges I applied to either had overcrowded classrooms or didn’t feel as organized during the admission process, so CEC stood out as the safer long-term choice.

Faculty

4

The faculty–student ratio is decent and most teachers are approachable if you actually ask doubts. A few of them explain concepts clearly and take the effort to make topics easier, especially in core subjects. The relationship between students and faculty stays formal but supportive, and you can reach out after class or during lab hours without feeling hesitant. There are always a few strict ones, but that’s normal in any engineering college

Night Life

4

Nightlife around the campus is pretty calm since the college itself shuts down early; the gym, cafeteria, library and public areas close by evening, and hostel entry timings are strict, so most of the late-night vibe happens outside the campus. Students usually hang out at nearby cafés, food joints and spots like Phase 7, Kharar food street, or small tea places around the area. It’s more of a chill, low-key scene where you grab coffee, go for a walk, or just sit with friends rather than anything wild.
