Course Curriculum Overview

5

The Management and Accounting part is what made me choose this course as BCOM hons teaches you about both management and accounting in more depth than general BCom does as well as the Business Law part prepares you for how the companies actually run.. The cases provided in Business Law are all very realistic and teaches you the internal running of company. The areas where some improvement is required is the examples given in books that are used for teachings. Some of them are not even relevant in today's scenario. The exams are conducted after completion of the semesters. Like there are 2 semesters in every Year so students go through 2 exams each year.

Placement Experience

3

Deshbandhu has a decent placement record and in 3 rd year campus starts comming to students. The average package here is around ?2-3.5LPA. A good strength of students gets selected for campus placements every year.. During the college years many companies even comes for internships for students. These are available for even 1st year students. Personally I'll be going for a post graduation after getting my graduation degree to boost my skills in today's competitive World.

Fees and Financial Aid

The annual tution fee in Deshbandhu College fir BCom Hons program for first year is 18741 rupees. It includes development lab and other compulsory charges during course completion. The college also provides financial aid for those students who belongs to certain category or is in need for financial assistance. All in all BCom hons is quite affordable here and the fees remains same throughout your college years with a few minor differences in amount.

Campus Life

5

As a first year my till now my overall experience here is great. Campus around here is always buzzing with some or the other activities or events organised by various societies. The Annual Fest Sarang is also very vibrant here. Deshbandhu proudly boasts the biggest and the best library in all of the DU colleges. From intresting novels to course Books and refreshers of diffrent prominent writers it has everything a student needs. And most importantly these books are very easy accessible by students. As already mentioned above the various societies of college are all about extra curricular activities which makes your student life much more exciting and enjoying...

Admission

I had applied to many other colleges before Deshbandhu. It was on 11th position on my preference list In DU college categories. And other than these DU colleges I had also applied to some private universities like Tula's UPES where I was selected and could have joined if I had not taken this college. I choose deshbandhu for two main reasons over other private universities: 1st it being a college affiliated to University of Delhi which is one of the most important reason and 2nd because it was a government college hence better than any private universities or colleges. In my preference list before Deshbandhu I had applied for some North campus colleges like Miranda, SRCC, Hindi, Hansraj etc but because my score in CUET wasn't enough so I couldn't get admission in those colleges. The admission process of deshbandhu is very simple. As it being part of DU, you have to go through CUET and get good score in your exam. Accordingly you'll be allotted the college after that it's upto you whether you'll freeze your seat or wait for an upgrade. The process altogether is very easy and everything is done online.BCom Hons is one of the most competitive and most preferred course of DU so the scores also go very high for opting this course like in first round of allotment the acceptable score for opting BCom Hons in deshbandhu was around 852 out of 1000 in CUET

Faculty

Deshbandhu boasts on of the best faculties of DU...All the professors around here are very experienced in their respective fields. They are all very genuine and helpful..Most of all they are very approachable both online and offline and ready to help their students in which ever way possible..As a first year the kind of help you expect when you join new college is what the facilities here provide you..They are ready to guide you on your every step, ready to give you advice of your AEC, SEC and VAC subject selection etc. I am a first year BCom Hons student and personally I found Deepak sir and Sonam ma'am of my course extremely helpful and understanding. Here in deshbandhu before every sem exam teachers conduct internal tests and vivas and assignments are to be submitted. Each of them carries different marks based of subjects and teachers respectively. Then there are practical exams which are conducted by externals and then finally the written subjective exams are conducted after every semester. The exams are of moderate level which also depends on how well you have prepared for your exam..Exams are conducted on based on the curriculum provided by DU and personally my curriculum of Bcom hons 1st year teaches me all the basics I need in today's time period. It is very relevant to what is actually prevailing around.

Night Life

The college is kind of in a central area of Kalkaji ji and has many gyms and cafes nearby where you can find many students after college hours. Deshbandhu doesn't have hostel facilities but most of the PGs are nearby college which makes travel very easy for students outside of Delhi. The college is open from 8 in morning to 5:30 in evening. The nearby hangout spots for students generally is around Krishna Market, Greater kailash OR CR Park. The area around college is very safe and secure fir students especially girls.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Well i choose this course because I didn't got what I wanted. Many students are from arts background who got this course because they had no option. The curriculum is same as school all chapters and everything. The law section is new. About buisness and law and everything. Rest is same. Changes in curriculum is not in their hands. But if they could actually change the accounting syllabus. The timing of exams is normal 2:30 to 6:30. And internal test taken by perspective teacher are according to their time and class. They will take retest incase you didn't attended.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I really was interested in finance and taxation from the beginning. This course aligned rightly with my interests. The curriculum is based on real world applications. Corporate accounting, financial accounting, company law, human resource management, these are very important considering change in the job market and business world. Not only real world applications but one can also go for further academic pursuit such as a master's degree and research. This makes the curriculum really diverse. Some areas of suggestions would be that in theory subjects there should be practical activities. Just like vestibular training. The time of exams is just right. After the completion of syllabus of a particular subject, we are given 10 days of preparation leave. The exams are moderate and it really tests our ability and knowledge based on our studies.

For placements fifth semester student are eligible for placements. Since it is best commerce college. Companies like big 4, google, bank of America, Goldman Sachs, bcg, bain and co., Sbi, paytm, meesho and many more comes. The highest package was 36 LPA this year from meesho for senior analyst roles. Average package is 10 LPA. Most of the placements take place in consulting, marketing, auditing, finance and analyst roles. Around more than 50% of the students get placed. My plan is to take placements in consulting and finance roles after the degree from the college.

Placement Experience:

The placement of my college is good if you perform well in the process of selection, as I told earlier, the placement cell is pretty active, so you would have a good number of options. I will be naming the good companies that visited my college, they were EY, Deloitte, DE SHAW, TCS, KPMG, etc. Numerous offers were made and I would say over 80% students in my batch got placed in good companies.

In open learning management.. they provide hard copy of books tk prepare whole semester and this is a very good thing because those books are covering whole semester in some books only and there is a v good thing I found... At the end of every chapter they provide summaries and mock questions for every chapter to analyse the weakness and strength. the areas for improvements in the Course Curriculum and Teaching Methods--- they should also provide a mock test paper as per the paper model and latest questions or updated topics with to the point topics The difficulty is normal if candidate is completely prepared...
