Remarks
The college life is a big positive. For anyone who has a hobby, the college has a lot to offer. Placements are a big positive too. Especially for circuital branches. Infrastructure however is on the negative side, mainly because of it being old.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is well structured, the first year has mostly common courses like math, physics, manufacturing practice etc. Second year onwards branch specific courses come into play. Then there are departmental and open electives in pre-final and final years. Lastly, there is an additional humanities course in each semester. For each subject, there are 2 major exams per semester, mid-sem and end-sem. There may be additional assignments or practicals. The final grading lies in the hands of the course convener
Placement Experience
Circuital branches have excellent placement in IT companies. Internships too are on-campus. There is a separate cell dedicated to Training and Placement. I am yet to appear for an internship but the stipends vary from 40K to around 200K per month. Much of the selection procedure is online(willingness filling and tests). After shortlisting, interviews are held after which the results are posted
College Events
There are 2 main events in the college, one cultural (Kashiyatra) and one technical (Technex). Both experience footfall in 10's of thousands. Students come from colleges around the country to participate in the events. There are DJ nights, comedy shows and other entertaining opportunities. Apart from these two, there is also a sports event(Spardha) which caters to most of the sports practiced in Indian colleges. Also, almost every department has it's own festival. For example the CSE department hosts CodeFest in August end each year. It's a completely online event with competitions in almost all fields of computer science from competitive programming to machine learning.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is feasible. Reserved category students have their tution fee exempted. Fee remmitance is also provided if one can prove his/her family is economically weak. Standard tution fees is 100K per semester, which goes down to 0 for economically weaker sections. There is an additional fees of 12K per semester for mess which every student needs to pay.
Fees and Financial Aid
There is a state bank branch inside the college and getting a loan from there is pretty easy. Often the interest rates are even 0. Scholarships are not very important because of the flexible fee structure but certain alumni fund scholarships for students based on their academic performance and economic status.
Campus Life
Sports activities thrive in the college. Popular sports like cricket, footbal, tennis, badminton have pretty high number of students involved. The gymkhana actively funds sports activities and official trips to other colleges for sports are also funded by it. The computer labs are pretty dope, most have i7 processors. Both linux and windows are installed on most. The labs of CSE department are specially very good with plenty of room and air conditioning
Hostel Facilities
The hostels are quite old hence the infrastructure is not upto the mark. Facilities in hostels include toilets, water coolers, geysers, mess, canteen etc. Rooms are smaller than one would expect. However, due to regular renovation, hygeine and quality is not an issue. As for girls, a new hostel is ready which has much better facilities include elevators and balconies.
Alumni/Alumna
The junior senior interaction is very healthy in the college. Seniors hold workshops and demonstrations to make the juniors familiar with the popular fields of work in the college. Besides, they help in form of previous year papers, notes, and placement experiences. Regarding alumni network, the age of the college speaks of itself. The college has definitely benefited from the 100 years of alumni. They help generously in form of fest sponsors, placement and startups.
Admission
Science students from class 12th need to clear to exams, JEE mains, then JEE advanced. Depending upon performance in JEE Advanced, one can grab a seat in one of the offered courses. A month long counselling process is there for it. If a student gets a seat, he should check the institute website for reporting date and follow the instructions therein
Faculty
I would say faculty is of mixed quality. Some are very good and experienced in their fields while some seem uninterested. They are capable of clearing most doubts and often agree to demands of students regarding syllabus and grading.
