Course Curriculum Overview

4

curriculum aspects that influenced me to choose this course: 1. core fundamentals of engineering, i.e. maths, basic science, and branch specific courses were emphasised upon 2. foundational subjects are taught in initial semesters followed by specialised subjects in later semesters 3. integration of lab+theory components 4. scope of final year projects and internships how this curriculum prepares me for real world application: this course builds conceptual clarity which is essential to build a solid foundation for engineering, however i feel practicals are not well aligned with industry level, modern tools, softwares are not introduced or introduced very late, students have to buy online courses for that. hence this curriculum need improvements, 1. introduction of more industry aligned subjects should me made compulsory 2. increase the use of projects, group assignments, etc 3. structured mentorship for internships and placements examinations happen 2 times for a semester, midsem exams and endsem exams, midsem exam: covers 40-45% syllabus, 1.5hr exam, easy-moderate difficulty level endsem exam: covers the whole syllabus, 3hr exam, moderate difficulty level apart from exams we have to give practical exams, viva, assignments, attend classes to maintain atleast 75% attendance

Placement Experience

5

placements of DTU are considered to be one of the best in india, and depending upon the branch ofcourse, DTU provides ample opportunities across tech, non tech and core roles students typically become eligible for campus placements 7th semester onwards internship opportunites usually start from 2nd year onwards for tech- roles many students convert into PPOs companies that visit DTU are: microsoft google uber amazon paytm atlassian flipkart deloitte KPMG PwC EY ZS associates Accenture Texas instruments Qualcomm Samsung R&D Nvidia, and many more, hundreds of offers are made across all branches every year multiple companies offer more than one role highest domestic package can go upto 85Lakhs avg package stays b/w 15-18LPA 80-90%placement rate top and circuital branches get more offers than core branches and also get higher packages also students also land in roles off campus after graduation my plans after degree: i'll build strong technical profile through internships and projects, sit for campus placements, also i am open to startup DTU's excellent placement opportunities give flexibilty in choosing a career path

Fees and Financial Aid

year wise fees I pay: 1st yr: 247,700Rs 2nd yr: 268,700Rs 3rd yr: 285,700Rs 4th yr: 306,700Rs These amounts include tution, student welfare, facility and service charges, exam fee, medical fee, and also includes JAC registration fee of 1500rs, security deposit. so total fee for 4 yrs is approximately 11.09Lakhs so, yes fee increases each year also if you opt for hostel+mess: triple seater(Non-AC) =52K double seater(Non-AC) =56K single seater(Non-AC) =60K triple seater(AC) =72K and mess is usually around 30-35K (mess operates for only 10 months in a year) some students on sports/defence/reserved categories may pay lower after scholarships and govt concessions, exact amount depends on category and official approvals each year, however sc/ST generally get tution fee waiver scholarships in DTU: 1. merit-cum-means: for students with good academics and fulfills family income criteria. 2. post-matric: for SC/ST/OBC, govt linked scholarships via NSP portal, full tution fee waiver+ monthly allowance

Campus Life

4

DTU has very active and diverse student community, because students come from across india, thus we are constantly exposed to different backgrounds, and cultures annual fests: Engifest(feb): biggest fest of north india- concerts, cultural nights, competitions, celebrity performances, massive participation from other colleges. Aahavan(october): Technical fest- hackathons, robotic events, workshops, etc DTU's central library is well equipped and student friendly, wide range of core textbooks, reference books, competitive exam prep material, access to international journals also provides a quite environment for reading books and studying classrooms are quite spacious and modern and easily accomodate a class of 70-80 students labs are branch oriented and well equipped core department may not look aesthetic but it's functional, reliable for serious academic work we have a dedicated sports complex, which offers large ground for cricket, football, dedicated courts for badminton, basketball, tennis etc. students run societies technical: IEEE-DTU, ALTAIR-DTU, UAS, AUV, etc coding societies like AIMS-DTU for AI/ML, etc cultural societies like debsoc, cognitive minds, dance, music etc entreprenurship and leadership: ECell-DTU, Businessbulls these socities are much needed for personality development, building strong resumes, create life long peers, etc student portal is used for academic record, course registration, notices, etc

Admission

I chose DTU over other colleges which had selected me on the basis of few decisions based on academic reputation, placements, location from home, alumni network and overall exposure, rather than just the"NIT" tag I got admission in NIT goa, PEC chandigarh through JOSAA counselling but didn't join. I got rejected in IITs and top-tier NITs, as their cutoff was too high and I could clear it with my JEE main rank, and I couldn't clear JEE advance exam talking about the admission process, you'll have to clear JEE main exam and then register on JAC- delhi portal for admssions in top engineering colleges of Delhi, including IIITD, NSUT, DTU, IGDTUW. admission process is simple after registration, you'll have 6 rounds of counselling, students will withdraw after each round, your college preferance will keep improving, if you are willing to accept your seat you may pay a seat allotment fee which is refundable upto 5th round after 6th round if you paid the fees your admission is done. just pay the remaining fees on JAC-delhi website only

Faculty

faculty to student ratio is roughly 1:30.(for classrooms), 1:15(for labs). which creates large batch sizes, due to which personal attention is close to zero. the faculty and student relationship is very formal, they don't personally care about any student. I really liked my maths, chemistry faculties for the quality of their teaching, approachable for doubts and very lineant. their names are mamta rani and apoorva malik respectively.. however i didn't liked basic electrical engineering professor.. MR. Krishna Dutt.. he was unecessarily strict, scolded students for no reason, taught very adv level topics which no one really understood, didn't gave marks in exam, cuts your attendance if you can't answer him a question asked in the class examination pattern: midsem+endsem+practical+int. assessment(assignment, attendance, etc) you have to score 21 marks(midsem+endsem) for subjects with practical and 26 marks (midsem+endsem) for subjects without practical and 35 marks in total to pass a subject exam difficulty level is quite varied.. it's not tough as JEE adv level but yes.. you'll need to study prior to exam to pass it.. generally 5-10% students fail in one or more subject in a semester in a class

Night Life

4

DTU is located in between a village so outside the campus is quite a boring and unsafe environment at night, but inside the campus students hangout with their friends, gym, late night studies, hostel life is also vibrant, library usually opens till 8-9PM canteens open till 9PM gym is open till 8PM academic block and common areas close by evening after the classes end last entry in hostel is not allowed after 9PM for girls and 11PM for boys campus is equipped with guards making it safe for girls favourite hangout spots: amul lane, raj soin hall, deltech cafe, Hims, sports complex

Other Applied Colleges

National Institute of Technology - [NIT] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Electrical and Electronics Engineering)

It was far from my house.. also placement stats of DTU was far better than NIT goa

The placements of MAIT are decent as compared to market conditions. But the data shown on website or availble at various platforms is not the reality. The mass chunk of students who get a job are placed under and around 6LPA package.

When it comes to curriculum everything us fine accept 1st year curriculum. My branch is ece in 1st year i have to study chemistry and physics which is no use for anybody in future it is just waste of time pretty outdated. For 2,3 and 4th year curriculum is far better than what it is in 1st year. Odd semester starts form August and after 2 month we have to give midsem exam.1 month after midsem we have to give endsem. There is very short time period between midsem and endsem examinations.Even semester starts form January everything is same as that of odd semester.

Placements are good in DTU. Usually a student is eligible to sit in placements from 4th year. Last year 325+ companies visited the campus like google, abode, Amazon, Microsoft, zomato, samsung, maruti suzuki, etc. They all have made 2050+ offers. The highest domestic package was offered by Atlanssian of 82.05LPA. The overall average package was 16.71LPA. The average package of my branch (Production and Industrial Engineering) was 12.34LPA. And in tech branches like CSE, IT it was around 24-25 LPA. Almost everyone is allowed to sit for placements. In PIE branch around 60-65% of student got placed in on campus.
