Overall NITK is a top rated national institute in the country with a 380acre campus. With all the sophisticated facilities. One can join the college if they need good placement, more than 240 companies visit every year for placements. It has a great scope for extra curricular activities as the facilities available are great.
Course Curriculum Overview
Our course curriculum is very good one, it is a 5 month semester wise curriculum. It is good because student is free from burden as they have to study only 5-6 subjects in 5 month semester, rather than 10-12 subjects in a year and writing whole 12 subjects at the end. Each subject 100% is divided into. quizzes (15%), mid semester (25%), assignment (10%), end semester (50%). That makes it 100%. The pass marks to clear a subject is 20%. Which is quite simple.
Placement Experience
Our college has an excellent record for placements, many companies from Bangalore come to our college , usually 85-90% of the students get placed, remaining people they plan for higher studies so they won't attend placements. Companies come for internship also, though I didn't get one, my friends got internships, where stipend is 30000-50000 per month.
College Events
Techincal fests named ENGINEER, it is the annual fest conducted in October. It is a technical fest where we can see the technical events, robowars, techinal workshops. It is very useful for students as they can take part in this and gain some practical experience.It also has Some cultural events and DJ nights.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Institute fee is 63000 per semester and hostel fee is 25600 per semester. It is quite feasible comparing to private colleges where they take 2-4 lakhs per semester. Actually it has increased this year due to increase in the prices of the resources.
Fees and Financial Aid
The institute offers Merit scholarship for those who do well in their academics, the pointer criteria is 8.5 cgpa. There are 2 banks in the college SBI and Canara where you can opt for loan and pay the fees. For SC/ST students the tution fee is refundable.
Campus Life
Institute has highly maintained labs for the practical experience of the students, well trained lab assistants. Institute has a newly built sports complex with indoor basketball, badminton table tennis, and all indoor games. Institute has a well maintained gym having all the equipment. We have a 50m swimming pool which is very well maintained.
Alumni/Alumna
Institute has a separate alumni group that includes all the alumnus from 1960 batch to 2019 batch, where they provide any funding for the institute of needed. The senior students are very helpful in clearing any kind of doubts.
Admission
Every year CBSE conducts jee mains exam, if you get good rank in that you will be getting NITK. Rank should be below 5000 for top branches.If you get more than 5000 then you will get civil, metallurgy, mining. If you have reservation you will get top branch if your rank is above 5000.
Faculty
They are very good, 75% of the faculty have PHDs, 25% are pursuing their PHD in college. Over all they are very experienced.They help us to gain practical knowledge in labs, They are welcoming if we have any doubts.
