Tezpur University Review

The university is really peacefull. It has a lot of trees and animals. The teachers are highly qualified. The students are really friendly. Hostels cleanliness is a little lacking. And some teachers really dont know how to teach and some have a really bad ego problem. The administration is strict.

I can only describe the course curriculum for the department of Physics. The curriculum of my batch is good. Wont say the best. However every year the Department is changing the curriculums in an attempt to make it the best for the students.There are 4 exams every semester, one of which will be an assignment. The exams are written exams and the grading is relative to the highest scorer of the class.

Placements are good for some departments and bad for some. The University does provide internship programs. You can also approach a professor to get intership in research activities. The intership was a little high level for me. Although it was a good experience to get to know how things will be going later. I had to work really hard.

Every school of the University has some events. Like Inscignis(School of Sciences), Techxetra(School of Engineering) etc. The February month is filled with competitions and other events organised by the university. There are various time where there will be stage shows from renowned bands. The students of the university also celebrate famous festivals like Diwali, Holi inside the campus.

Fee structure is really feasible. It is not at all expensive, since it is a government university. I am currently paying around 14k Indian Rupees every semester including the hostel fee. The hostel mess fee charge around 1.7k Indian Rupees every month.

I dont know of any scholarship facility that the college provide. I dont think there are any because the fee is really low here and i think it is affordable by people from most of the economical category.

Extracurricular activities are a choice here. There are enough facilities provided for these and there are various platform for the students. The labs are well equiped, however some equipments are old and thus stops working again and again. The university provide good platform for various physical activities like footbaal, cricket, basketball, Archery, NCC etc

The hostels are ok (Neither good, neither bad). The hostel rooms are good. The food is fine. The infrastructures and environment is good. We have a big garden outside the hostel. The room is spacious. But not all hostel s are same. Some hostel room are little small. The bathroom and toilets are not well maintained though.

There is a Tezpur University Alumni Association. The university sometimes organise Alumni meet. The Alumni often keep visiting the University to meet with the professors and their junior. The seniors are friendly and helpful.

There is a Tezpur University Entrance Exam (TUEE), which we have to clear. Merit list and waiting list are made based on this exam result. The students whose name is in the merit list must come to the University during the counseling day. Once the total number of seats provided are filled others in the waiting list cannot take admission. However there are 3 seats reserved which is called the Self Service Scheme(SSS). The admission fee for this category is higher.

There are both good and bad faculty. Most of the faculties are highly qualified and has done numerous research work in their respective field. Some faculty lacks the teaching skills. In my experience faculty wont play any role in your education process. You will have to study yourself. The experienced faculties can guide you though.
