Remarks
The Coding Culture here is probably the best in the country. Our seniors have developed a great environment of Competitive Programming which has continued down the years. And now, development field is also on the rise. The only negative thing here is the administration and the on-time of girls.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum has been updated recently to match the recent CBCS system of education. In the computer science stream, modern topics of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence have been added. The Exam structure is very rigid. We get grades and they are used to calculate our CGPA and SGPA. There is no relative marking.
Placement Experience
The placements and internships scenarios are great in this college. In placements, the average salary is about 12 lakh p.a. Best branches regarding this is the CSE/IT branch, with average package around 15-16 lakh.
College Events
There are 4 major events in our college - Pantheon, Bitotsav, Vajra and Hack-A-BIT. Pantheon is the annual technical fest, Bitotsav is the annual cultural fest, Vajra is the annual sports meet and Hack-A-BIT is the annual Hackathon. They are organized with great pomp and splendour and eminent Bollywood personalities perform in the closing nights of these fests.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The Fee structure is very feasible unlike other fully private institutes. This is because it is partially funded by the state government. Per semester fee is about 125000 and mess fee is about 20000 per semester. In total an expense of 16 lakh is likely to occur in 4 years.
Fees and Financial Aid
My college offers scholarship to the reserved category of students who score a CGPA of minimum 7.5 in all their semesters in a year. Also, some deserving students with more than 8 GPA get book vouchers worth 500 rupees. Also in the starting, all students are awarded scholarships based on their JEE Mains ranks.
Campus Life
The Labs are in good conditions. Some lab instructors are very helpful. Especially the Computer labs are all Air Conditioned and neat. There is a huge stadium for Sports activities. We have 2 football grounds, 1 cricket ground, 4 basketball grounds, 3 volleyball grounds, 1 handball ground and a 400 m long track with stands.
Hostel Facilities
The hostels of BIT Mesra are great. First year male students are allotted Hostel 10, with double sharing rooms. But, from the second year onwards, all the male students are alloted single rooms in various hostels. Girls are alloted Hostel 8 and 9, with double sharing rooms and the security around these hostels is very tight for their safety. The maintenance and the quality of food in all the hostels are average but the size of the single rooms are very big.
Alumni/Alumna
They are the most helpful. A student gains 80% of his knowledge from their seniors. Through the club activities, the seniors all the skills required in placements. And the great Alumni network greatly help in bringing great companies to the college.
Admission
I got admission through JEE Mains. To be in CSE, I had to get in the top 10000 ranks in India. Then through various rounds of JOSAA counselling, we get our respective branches. After the last round, we have to report here and our respective sections and hostels are allotted to us.
Faculty
Most of the faculty in this college is well qualified. Especially in the Computer Science department, all the teachers are very student friendly and are eager to help the students whenever and wherever they need assistance.
