Remarks
Ragging still exists in the college campus. It's worst for the Hostellers. Our college gets a lot of fund from the government but the money never gets used properly for the development of the college. Instead the money is used up in all unnecessary things which is not required. The college was established in 1955, till now our college has received more than 40 crores from the government, but the college has failed to construct even a single boundary around the college ( which results in wild animals entering the classrooms)
Course Curriculum Overview
The Course Curriculum under ASTU (Assam Science and Technology University) is quite straightforward and easy to understand. Properly structured syllabus and a number of practical classes available makes it much easier to understand and grasp concepts.
Placement Experience
Placement scenario is average in our College with placements coming from various private firms, companies, PSU's and many more. Placements mainly depends on your technical IQ, knowledge about your subjects, and how you present yourself in the interview. The college provides internship in the end of 3rd, 5th and 7th Semester.
College Events
College week, Pyrokinesis (Annual college fest), Acoustic nights, Spondon (Dance fest), 3*3 Basketball tournaments, Beach volleyball tournament, 5*5 Football tournaments, Debate Competition , Inter-Hostel sports tournament.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Quite Feasible. It's generally around 13000-14000 per year. The low fee structure is the best part about government colleges. The various scholarships available makes it even much easier for EWS and BPC students to pay their college fee.
Fees and Financial Aid
Ishaan Uday Scholarship is a scholarship that most of the students in our College have applied for. According to this scholarship, if your family income is less than 3 lakh per annum then you can avail scholarship from the government.
Campus Life
The extracurricular activities are good here. Sports is given utmost importance of all. Sports events are conducted regularly in the college campus from time to time which includes sports like cricket, football, basketball and volleyball. The labs are good but their maintenance is not done properly. The labs are not cleaned properly and equipments available are old. (They belong in the museum)
Hostel Facilities
Yes, I've opted for Hostel in my 3rd Semester after staying one year in PG. The hostel infrastructure has improved a lot this year because of new reconstruction work going on. The facilities available is not upto the expected level. The toilets are not clean and wastes thrown here and there.
Alumni/Alumna
The Alumni Network is quite strong and they visit college time to time. The seniors are very helpful. The Alumni members contribute a lot for the welfare of the college and hostels. The best part- college alumni inspires the young graduates to achieve big in their life
Admission
There was an exam taken. The exam, also known as CEE (Combined Entrance exam), was conducted after our higher secondary exams. You get some of the best government colleges in the state depending on your score in CEE exam.
Faculty
The faculty here are quite dedicated when it comes to teaching. But many of the faculty members lack technical knowledge in their respective fields. Some faculty members teach things exactly the same way as written in our College technical books which makes learning monotonous. Some teachers, though have a good hold on their subjects, can't express themselves properly during class lectures.
