College Placement and Academics Review

Overall the college is good. It provides good platform and enough skill and knowledge to at least compete in the market. The industrial training provided by Center of Excellence is very good. But the faculty teaching skill is not up to the mark. Also job opportunities for non software stream students is very less.

Overall the course curriculum is a good one. Total there are eight semester examination and in each semester exam two exams will be there. One is internal conducted in college and other is external conducted in college only but some external invigilators will come and also question paper will come from University. But this has changed now since our college has become autonomous and now both internal and external exam is conducted by college faculty only. Internal exam is like a test and external exam is a main test. The course curriculum is very systematically arranged and distributed for each semester. But there are too much emphasis on theory concepts and less on practical applications.

Placement was good earlier but since last 4-5 years it has declined a lot. Only software companies like Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant, Accenture and few more are recruiting in mass number and there is hardly any scope for core branch students. Even software companies have started recruiting very less as compared to earlier. In between few other companies like Voltas, RSB Transmission, STFC, Robert Bosch will come but recruit in less number. And about internship the answer is no. Our college is not providing any internship but some faculty may advice and help regarding this.

Every year some events will take place. In January month usually Annual Sports week will happen in which various events across the week will take place. Every student of every course and year is allowed to take part and compete in maximum of 6 events. Few events are racing, high jump, long jump, javelin throw, discus throw, chess, carom and many more. Next event is annual Fest which take place in March month usually. It will happen across 3 days. Many events like gaming, robot racing, fun related games and lots of events will take place. And the students generally patiently wait for this event to take place. Everyone enjoys a lot. It helps to interact with others and also we can enjoy a lot. And the last day of Fest some big personality like dancer, singer will come and also perform. Last day ramp walk, dance, DJ and party will be there along with good food facility. Most of the events are arranged by students only. Next our college will celebrate environment week by planting trees and also showcasing flower show. Annual prize distribution will take place every year to award the winners of both academics and other activities. Students of each stream every year will arrange and give fresher's party and farewell party.

The fee structure is little bit on the expensive side. The cost of annual fee will look high when it will be compared with other colleges of the state but it is genuine enough. The college is providing good infrastructure and facilities along with other benefits. Also our college is charging more because they are in collaboration with Siemens and Bosch Rexroth companies and they have a Centre of Excellence in our college which is providing training on latest industrial technology and techniques involved. This training actually is very beneficial.

Our college while admission was going on, that time only had 6 or 7 banks including SBI whose executives were present there to provide education loan without any fuss. I also availed SBI education loan easily. Scholarship related things our college will display on the notice board from time to time. But all are only for local state students.

Labs are in good condition and also lab staffs are having good knowledge. But again the same problem what is being taught in college is actually not required in industries. Sports events will take place every year in annual sports meet. Also throughout the year many sports like cricket, volley ball, basketball, badminton and many others students are playing. Many extracurricular activities are conducted throughout the year like writing, singing, dancing, elocution, gaming and many more inter and intra college events and everything is put on notice board for everyone.

Hostel food and room condition is fine and adjustable. It is not that much luxurious but manageable. People usually get accustomed once they start living in hostels. At the start every hostel condition will look bad only.

Very few are in connect and they are helpful only up to a little extent. But for computer and IT stream people they are pretty helpful and have a good network. Other stream people who are seeking job in their respective field are finding it difficult to get any help because of less job opportunities in the market. Most of the senior students do not get in to a good reputed job so early in their career and thus seeking help from them becomes a little difficult.

I got the admission by taking part in Odisha Joint Entrance Exam (OJEE).In this examination I got 2066 ZZ rank. This ZZ rank is a separate ranking system for outside Odisha state people. I belong to Jharkhand. After the result got declared we were called for counselling and we filled the choice of preferred colleges we wanted to take admission in. I selected CVRCE in Bhubaneswar since it was one of the high ranked college and I got my selected college after counseling result was declared few days later. After that a particular date was given for admission and we were asked to report. That is the whole process.

The faculties of our college are highly educated. Most of them have either done PhD or M Tech from NIT or IIT. Overall education level is high but only few faculties know how to deliver it to the students. Slowly even students will understand this and they will stop attending classes. In general we can say the faculties of our college lack application oriented knowledge and delivery approach.
