I applied to 5 Universities : Lancaster University - Accepted Manchester Metropolitan University - Rejected Essex University - Accepted University of Strathclyde - Accepted University of Law - Rejected Heriot-Watt University - Accepted After speaking to a decent number of alumni from each university through LinkedIn and comparing the rankings, accreditations, and standard of living. I decided to choose Lancaster University. The factors that influenced my decision in choosing Lancaster University are: 1. Module 2. University Ranking 3. Accreditations 4. standard of living 5. reaching out and speaking to alumni through LinkedIn. After careful research, I applied to the university through their official website, and the university was very responsive from day 1. Whenever I had any kind of doubt or got stuck, I emailed the university, and they replied very promptly. October 2025 intake The admission process took almost 2 Months. After accepting the offer, I had to pay a deposit amount to lock in my admission, and then they sent me a CAS letter, which becomes an essential document to apply for my visa and also for immigration. After applying, they made me an offer within 20 working days, and then I was given almost 25 days to confirm and pay the deposit. I only applied to Lancaster University, Manchester University Business school, and Durham University. I was waitlisted in Durham. I was accepted in Lancaster. I was rejected from Manchester. In my opinion, Manchester University Business school is one of the top-ranking B-schools and needed a great GMAT score, which I didn't get. Hence, I was rejected from this college. Durham, again, tops the charts for MBA. Doesn't require a GMAT score, but a lot depends on your past work experiences. Lancaster University seemed a great choice for me because it is among the top 10 B-schools in the UK. I only applied to 3 colleges, all MBA, because my vision was very clear from the beginning about MBA and the kind of schools I needed to apply to. Also, I only wanted to apply in England. Hence, I didn't apply to any of the other great schools in Scotland. Lancaster University has great faculty. In 2022, it was ranked 132 for MBA in the QS world ranking. It had an international trip for the price of the MBA. I wanted that kind of exposure. The admission process was simple. I wrote an SOP (STATEMENT OF PURPOSE), and my agent submitted all the documents, including the SOP, past work experience, Resume, etc., to the Lancaster University portal and soon after I got to the second round of shortlisting, which was the interview. After the interview, the university sent an email to me saying I was shortlisted. The eligibility criteria for an MBA were: SOP IELTS - MINIMUM SCORE REQUIRED WAS 6.5 OVERALL AND IN EACH INDIVIDUAL TOPIC MINIMUM 4 YEARS OF WORK EXPERIENCE. The process and experience were just fine. I hired an agency to do the whole process for me, so it was pretty simple for me. I just wrote the SOP and submitted all the documents to my agent, who did all the filing for me. (I recommend going through this route). Once the admission was successful, Pete Cornwall reached out to help in any way possible, which I thought was sweet and thoughtful. Rest, I didn't face any challenges, to be honest. It was as simple as it could be. I was in the Autumn intake, October 2022. It is more aligned with hiring cycles. Plus Lancaster only had October intakes for MBA. The whole admission process took less than 15 days for me; it is very subjective, though. The process is as follows: I hired an agent for completing all the paperwork for me. I submitted all the documents to my agent, who in turn made a case file for me and submitted all the documents to the university. Once my documents, history and SOP were shortlisted. I applied for 5 colleges: Loughborough University (confirmed) Bath uni (confirmed but not in the coarse i wanted) Briston uni (rejected my application) Lancaster uni (confirmed) Queen mary (confirmed) Major time taken was 1-2 weeks, and some unis were not able to provide me with the course – I think reason would be bachelors marks and less social activities in my country Major universities didn’t required any application fees, but unis which were prestigious have a very significant marking system every uni looks for different type of diversity, so did mine all the uni which accepts or rejects depends on student profile and statement of purpose the better the high chances and the better level of references and a better mark sheet with good overall score gives you higher and better chance to enter any uni, as the competition is very high a lot of things are considered; some of them which might have rejected mine would be my cgpa and less social work in my country Size, reputation, rankings, university students, proximity to major colleges, safety in the city, fees and scholarships. I applied to the following: Edinburgh (MBA)—Received a rejection because it's one of the top universities for MBA and the waitlist was too high, they also had some minimum requirements, which I believe I didn't meet, like work experience. They needed a specific kind and number of years of work experience. Glasgow (Masters in Marketing)— Shortlisted, but my main focus was MBA so I didn't admit myself to this course. However, it's a good course. Durham (MBA)— Very high waitlist, top universities in the UK for MBA. I didn't meet the required expectations. Manchester Business school (MBA)—Very high waitlist, top universities in the UK for MBA. I didn't meet the required expectations. Lancaster University (MBA)—Admitted Sheffield University (MBA)— I rejected the offer, as Lancaster had a better ranking and faculty. One of the major factors was its top ranking in the United kingdom for MBA year after year. Another personal reason was my sister had previously studied at this college. Also, I received an 8500 pounds scholarship from the University which drove my decision. I had heard the faculty is amazing and also about their out-of-the-box teaching with international trips and more groundworkthan classroom teaching. The admission process was simple; I just had to submit my documents like My previous work experience letters Past education Any other work that I had done And finally, the statement of purpose (SOP). Once I submitted all this, I was shortlisted for an Interview, the same happened with Robyn Remke (Director of MBA), as she personally handpicks the batch. Once I cleared the interview, I was given an offer with a scholarship. The only exam I gave was IELTS. I scored 7.5. Minimum was 6. The university accepts admissions based on this exam only. There is no need for GMAT etc (for MBA). Honestly, there were no challenges as such; the university could take their time and keep you hanging. That is the only challenge. Otherwise the process was very simple, the documents were pretty straightforward and the interview was quick. Robyn Remke will notice everything in the interview and that will be the deciding factor for your admission and the scholarship amount, so it's advisable to stay calm, say the truth and choose a quiet room to give the interview. The questions were pretty basic and straight out of your SOP. Make sure you write your own SOP. Any plagiarism will not be appreciated. Rest the process was fine. I applied to the Oct 2022 intake. This is the best time to apply for an MBA. Once you finish the course, the job market also opens around the same time, which is August. The admission process takes more than 1 month. I've applied to a total of 5 Universities. I got selected at Exeter University, the University of Surrey and Lancaster. I got rejected from the University of Liverpool and Queen Mary London University. I think I didn't meet their eligibility criteria on Queen's Mary and I applied early to Liverpool before I got my final semester results so that didn't look good on my application. I really liked the curriculum and module option that was available, plus the city as well; it wasn't overwhelming . The admission process was fairly easy. I had already done my IELTS exam, which made the application Process easier as well; I got an overall score of 8, which added weight to my profile. My overall admission experience was really smooth; the university helped with all the queries I had and were great at assisting throughout the process. The admission process took about 3-4 weeks from the date I applied and then 3 more weeks for me to receive my CAS and then after one month of waiting, I got my visa. I considered European countries for my master's degree. Although I sincerely considered several European countries that don't ask for a tuition fee, I preferred the UK because I could finish my degree in one year and also because the tax that you have to pay once you get a job seemed less, leaving more cash in hand, which helps you in building your assets or to pay off your debts. Overall, considering 5 years in the UK vs. 5 years in other European countries, I was ending up making more money in the UK. I chose Lanaster University as it was ranked in the top 10 universities in the UK to pursue data science in the national rankings. The university was ranked very high in internal rankings like QS rankings and times higher education rankings too. The course offered covered all the necessary subjects that would help me develop a strong foundation to build a career as a data scientist. Also, the 3-month external placement offered by the university helped me pick Lancaster . The placement helps you test your skills in an industrial setting and can even open doors to your first job. Applied to 5 in total. Manchester: rejected last round. The real reason is ambiguous but I assume it is probably due to lack of work experience. I had about 4+ years of work experience, and it seemed like the class average was a bit higher. Uni of Bath—admitted; I did not select this as they did not offer any scholarship. Uni of Loughborough-admitted; admitted but I only applied as a backup; priority was Manchester or Lancaster Lancaster University: admitted with 33% scholarship Uni of Strathclyde-admitted; admitted but I only applied as a backup; priority was Manchester or Lancaster I picked Lancaster University for its curriculum. The overall syllabus is more geared towards consulting skillsets and I wanted to find my footing in that sector; therefore, it became a natural choice. The Uni's Strategy courses are really good and they taught me a professor whose work is recognised within the industry. It also ranked quite high in the rankings for strategy-related courses in 2021 before the faculty changed, therefore making it my top choice. The application process is as follows: Application with SoP -> Interview -> Result. The application requirement varies every year but generally its a standard form with an SOP of about 800 words. You will get an invite for a meeting/interview within 4 weeks and then the result in about 4 weeks. Eligibility criteria are quite standard. About 3+ years of solid experience as a minimum before applying. GMAT cutoff is 600. Not many apply with a GMAT score but it helps with the scholarships and among those with a score, about 630 is the average. Overall, the admissions process is quite smooth; it just takes a while longer than the others. There are no particular challenges if time is taken out of the equation. University of york, lancaster university ,university of exeter and university of bath My applications were rejected in kings college london and university of southampton Both of the university's world ranking are quite high (in top 100), so its very competitive, probably there were individuals with more relevant education and exp. I choose lancaster university because of its reputation, Ranking for my subject, overall world ranking and the safety I went through an agency, Had written ietls and gathered all relevant docs (passport, educational docs, LOR, letter stating why im interested to pursue the course and why that particular uni). Once applied and waited for my results, there were no exams. It was very smooth 2023 September intake, Availability of the course and uni in UK. for the jan intake only few uni offers courses(options are quite limited). Admitted - Lancaster University Applied - Durham University, Coventry university, University Of Sheffield, University of Birmingham, University of Bristol, Queen Mary University - London, Royal Holloway University of London.  My aim was always between Lancaster University, University of Birmingham and Queen Mary university. So when I got the offer I accepted it without any other thoughts.  Reason for not Accepted may be due to Undergraduate grade. Another reason to choose this university is the syllabus for my course with both practical and theoretical coursework. The campus was excellent. Large ratio of International students. And it had a very good academic ranking and reputation. The application process was with an application form and the other necessary forms. such as SOP, LOR.  As I had scored very good marks in English in both my 10th and 12th standard, my IELTS score was waived.  I applied for the October intake in the University. The factors that influenced my decision as such was to improve my knowledge and explore new things to better myself. Hence, looking at my options, Lancaster university was the best choice in terms of academics, expenses and exposure. The curriculum of my course made me choose this college. The academic offering which Lancaster University was giving was more aligned with my interest than courses offered by other universities. The admission process was straight and simple, I had to fill up the application form and submit necessary documents (academic results, passport etc.) I had appeared for the IELTS exam and had received 7.5 bands in the exam. Overall admission process was smooth and fast in terms of receiving the outcome of my application as I had started very early in terms of applying to the colleges. I started with the applications in early November. I had applied for the September-October intake. Most of the universities take admission during this time only and so is the job market aligned to this academic cycle. Though some universities do offer January Intake, but this ain't a major intake for most of the universities and many do not offer intake in the month of January. The application takes 4-6 weeks to give a decision. If a student accepts the offer, they receive a CAS letter which is needed for the VISA.
