Course Curriculum

10

  • I would describe the difficulty level of my course to be medium. It would be extremely hard for someone with non-finance and economics background. It was a mix of both theoretical and practical knowledge.
  • The positive aspect of my course was the help from professor which was available all year round and the negative aspect would be the schedule and timing of lectures.

Admission Experience

  • I had applied to University of west of England and i had received confirmed admission from it. I did not accept that offer because I was selected by university of east anglia. I  I had also applied to university of Dundee but i was put in waitlist as they had already selected the number of students that they required. I was shortlisted after two weeks however i decided not to go for that university because Dundee is very far from major cities in the UK.
  • I choose UEA over university of west of England because UEA has a much better rank than the other university and has better standard of teaching.
  • The admission process was very smooth and straightforward as i applied and received the interview call within 2 weeks. I passed the interview and was offered the confirmed  place in university. The university does require IELTS exam with a score of 5.5 bands.
  • I applied for september 2023 intake because I had received my IELTS in the month of February and therefore I had already missed the jan intake and the next available intake was september.
  • The admission process took around 4 months. I applied in march and was offered a place in april. Then I had to pay 1000 pounds to get my cas letter. The university did delay issuance of my cas letter because of it having short staff. Therefore i received my cas letter in august.

Class Schedule

10

  • There were only 1 class per day from monday to friday. some classes were early 9 am in the morning and some days it used to be 5 pm in the evening.
  • The number of students in my class was 120 but only 50 of us used to show up most of the times.
  • There were about 60 Indian students in total in my class.

Faculty

10

  • The faculty to student ratio was 1 to 120 students. but it never influenced the quality of education as everyone was given chance to participate in groups.
  • The teaching methodology was mostly classroom based where the professor would show and explain the PowerPoint slides. The students could interrupt anytime they had a doubt.
  • In the school of economics, we had an employability team which used to organise events and also assist students in finding jobs.
  • I admire Mr. Rui Silva the most out of economics school as he always helped students and was very friendly.

Campus Life

8

  • My uni only has norwich campus which is situation on the west of norwich.
  • It has a 24 hour open library, 24 hour opened sportspark and its own nhs medical centre.
  • Uni always has something going on, beginning with freshers week. It has LCR and multiple bars which is good fun. It has over 200 societies to join which gives students a break from academics.

Part Time Jobs

  • There are multiple opportunities for students to get employed by university itself. Each year it conducts part job fair for all students. It has vacancies in its cafes, restaurants, tea shop and cleaning department. Each school at uni gives students a chance get internship as well. The students are paid at minimum wage per hour. It is very easy to get jobs at us, which can be accessed mycareercentral.com or by simply going to use jobs on google.
  • The students typically earn minimum hourly wage on parttime jobs. I was paid 11.44 when I was on part time. Indian students mostly prefer to work in restaurants such as McDonald's or in care homes. some indian students work as delivery drivers. which i personally dont recommend as it rains anytime in the uk and there is always risk of your cycle being stolen.

Placement

10

  • Right after completing my course in September 2024, I got job in AVIVA, a well reputed UK company, in a month. I would say 90% of students get a job within 6 months of completing their education from UEA. Most students start their jobs from beginner level, with a salary between 25k to 30k pounds an year.
  • Linkedin and indeed are best platforms to get a job. Student should also use bright network website to secure graduate schemes.
  • Most of my batchmates has secured good jobs currently as well.
  • Major companies that hire graduates from my program are insurance companies such as aviva, the big 4 and UK banks.

Accommodation

Off Campus
10

  • I found my student accommodation in the university. It can be booked for an entire year on the university website and can be paid monthly.
  • My monthly rent including bills was 450 pounds per month. It included my en-suite room and kitchen.
  • I did not faced any challenges as I had already sorted my accommodation from India.
  • I would recommend future students to priorities the university accommodation, if not, try spareroom.com

Exams

  • IELTS with 5.5 bands is required for majority of courses. The necessary documents for admission process are the statement of purpose and personal statement.
  • It needs to be really good and should demonstrate your personality and dedication towards studies.
I had to go through an interview to get CAS letter.
  • It was on teams and it was taken by an Indian ambassador of the university. It had around 8 questions about why i was to study this course and my future perspectives.

Fees

  • My total fee was 19800 but because of a scholarship called "india award", it was reduced to 14800. The fee i needed to pay to secure cas letter was 10000 pounds. I paid remaining 4800 pounds from the uk in three equal installments.
  • University gives multiple scholarships to international students based on merit as well as nationality.
  • My monthly expenses were around 600 pounds that included my accommodation, bills and groceries. I used to live on campus therefore there were no transportation expenses.

Scholarship

  • There are many merit based scholarships for my course. The scholarship i got was called india award and it was worth 5000 pounds. it was given to me because I had more than 75% in my bachelors degree.
  • This scholarship is given to all successful indian students. UEA is pretty chill about fee as it makes all arrangements for you so that you can afford to pay for education.
