Silicon iMCA FAQs
Ques. What is the difference between iMCA and doing BCA and MCA separately?
Ans. The iMCA (Integrated BCA + MCA) at Silicon University is a 5-year continuous programme that combines both degrees in a single integrated curriculum. Doing BCA (3 years) and MCA (2 years) separately would also take 5 years, but the integrated programme offers a seamless curriculum, avoids the need for a separate MCA entrance exam, and provides a more cohesive learning experience. Additionally, students have the option to exit after 3 years with a BCA degree if they choose not to continue for the MCA.
Ques. Is OJEE required for admission to iMCA at Silicon University?
Ans. No. Unlike the standalone MCA programme (which is filled 50% through OJEE counseling), the iMCA programme at Silicon University is 100% filled through Silicon University Counseling (SUC). Admission is based purely on merit in 10th and 12th marks (weighted average: 70% of 12th marks + 30% of 10th marks). No OJEE, JEE, or any other national entrance exam is required.
Ques. Can I exit after 3 years with a BCA degree from the iMCA programme?
Ans. Yes. The iMCA programme at Silicon University has a lateral exit option. After successfully completing 3 years (6 semesters), students can exit with a BCA degree. Those who wish to continue can complete the remaining 2 years (4 semesters) to earn the MCA degree. This flexibility makes the programme attractive for students who may want to start working after BCA or pursue other opportunities.
