KLU B.Tech CSIT FAQs
Ques. Is the B.Tech CSIT programme at KLU different from B.Tech CSE? What is the key difference?
Ans. Yes, there is a difference. B.Tech CSE at KLU focuses more on core computer science concepts like algorithms, data structures, operating systems, and compiler design. B.Tech CSIT, on the other hand, has a stronger emphasis on IT systems, software tools, cloud computing, DevOps, and cross-platform development. CSIT is more application and tool-oriented, while CSE is more theory and research-oriented. The fee for CSIT (Rs. 1,37,500/semester) is slightly lower than CSE (Rs. 1,45,000/semester) at the Vijayawada campus.
Ques. Can I get admission to B.Tech CSIT at KLU without appearing for KLEEE?
Ans. Yes. KLU accepts JEE Main, JEE Advanced, AP EAMCET, TS EAMCET, and Uni-GAUGE scores for B.Tech CSIT admission. You do not need to appear for KLEEE separately if you have a valid score in any of these exams. You can directly apply through the KLU admissions portal with your existing score.
Ques. What specialisations can I choose in B.Tech CSIT at KLU, and when do I have to choose?
Ans. The B.Tech CSIT programme offers eight specialisations: Data Science and Big Data Analytics, AI and Intelligent Process Automation, Cloud and Edge Computing, Software Modelling and DevOps, Cyber Security and Blockchain Technology, Game Development and UX Design, Cross Platform Development Technologies, and Management Information Systems. Specialisation selection typically happens in the 3rd or 4th semester after students have a better understanding of their interests.
Ques. What is the scholarship continuation policy? I scored well in JEE but am worried about maintaining it.
Ans. To continue availing merit scholarships from the 2nd semester onwards, you must maintain a minimum 9.0 CGPA in B.Tech CSIT. This is a strict requirement. If your CGPA falls below 9.0, the scholarship will be discontinued for that semester. It is advisable to stay consistent academically from the very first semester to retain the scholarship throughout the 4-year programme.
Ques. Are hostel facilities mandatory for B.Tech CSIT students at KLU Vijayawada?
Ans. No, hostel accommodation is not mandatory. Day scholars can commute to the campus. However, for outstation students, on-campus hostel accommodation is strongly recommended given the campus is located at Vaddeswaram, which is about 20 km from Vijayawada city. Hostel fees range from approximately Rs. 1,28,975 to Rs. 1,68,975 per year depending on room type, inclusive of mess charges.
