Ans. No. The Certificate in Sanskrit is a beginner-to-intermediate level programme. Candidates who have passed Class 12 (with or without Sanskrit as a subject) are eligible to apply. The entrance test assesses basic aptitude and language ability. Students with prior exposure to Sanskrit at the school level will have an advantage, but it is not mandatory.
Ques. Can I pursue the Certificate in Sanskrit alongside a full-time job or another degree programme?
Ans. Yes. This is specifically a part-time programme with classes held on the JMI campus in New Delhi. The schedule is designed to accommodate students who are simultaneously enrolled in other programmes or working. Many JMI students pursue language certificate courses alongside their regular UG or PG degrees.

Ques. What career opportunities are available after completing the Certificate in Sanskrit from JMI?
Ans. A Certificate in Sanskrit from JMI opens pathways in teaching (Sanskrit at school level), translation of classical texts, research in Indology and ancient Indian history, work with cultural and religious institutions, and government jobs requiring Sanskrit proficiency. Ques. Is the JMI entrance test for the Certificate in Sanskrit competitive?
Ans. With 30 seats and a moderate number of applicants, the competition is manageable. The entrance test assesses basic language aptitude and general knowledge. Candidates with a background in Sanskrit at the school level (Class 10 or 12) are generally well-prepared. The test is conducted at the JMI campus in New Delhi.
Ques. Can students from outside Delhi apply for this programme?
Ans. Yes, students from any part of India can apply. However, since this is a part-time programme with classes on the JMI campus in New Delhi, students need to be physically present in Delhi. Hostel accommodation at JMI is primarily allocated to full-time regular programme students, so outstation students should arrange private accommodation near the campus.
