Jamia Millia Islamia University: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 5 Reviews

Admission to the Economics program is based on a university entrance exam held every June, covering General Knowledge, Mathematics, Economics, and English through a 100-mark multiple-choice test with negative marking. The course runs regular classes four days a week, taught by qualified faculty, including PhD scholars and professors from prestigious institutions like ISI. The faculty-student relationship is strong, contributing significantly to students' development. The course fee is Rs 7,000 per semester, with hostel fees at Rs 15,000 per semester, both payable online or offline without extra admission charges.

Scholarships are available for outstanding and underprivileged students, including opportunities to study abroad. The total course fee is Rs 21,600 for three years. Placement opportunities for bachelor's students are limited, with most opting for further studies or government service preparation. The placement cell is more active for master's students, offering jobs in banks, NGOs, and companies, with salaries ranging from 3.5 to 8 lakhs per annum. Despite the limited undergraduate placements, the program's low fees and high educational value make it a worthwhile investment for students pursuing higher education or off-campus job opportunities.

Fees and Financial Aid:

Since it is a Central University it has low fees of 7200 per year. Different Scholarship is also provided to unprivileged students who can't afford their fees . Our department has a placement cell but it offers very few placements for undergraduates and the majority choose higher studies. The return on investment is high in this course.

The annual fees stand at Rs 7,200. This includes the tuition fees, examination fees, library charges and other related costs. The cost of accommodation is not included. That has to be managed by the students themselves. Multiple scholarships are available that one can apply for given the fact that he/she fulfills the criteria.
