Which is better, a B.Tech in civil engineering from NIT Hamirpur or from PEC Chandigarh?

My friends have been studying in both NIT Hamirpur and PEC Chandigarh and according to their first-hand experience, PEC Chandigarh holds an edge. Here’s why: It lies in a prime location viz. Chandigarh. The city has better and numerous opportunities. It is an education hub in the North, hence making it easier to plan and implement your higher education goals. There are ample coaching centers as well in case you want to prepare for government exams. PEC has better placement and internship options as well, again it is due to the location advantage. The college has an amazing faculty for civil engineering most of the teachers that are in NITSurathkal have acquired Ph.D. degrees and a minimum teaching average of 2 years. The admission to the BTech Civil program is through JEE Mains. Placements: NIT Surathkal in the academic year of 2019 witnessed a 100% placement percentage. There were around 60 companies present to give jobs to the B. Tech students. A total of 97 students opted for placements for B. Tech civil engineering course, out of which all of them got the placements. Top recruiters that provided jobs include Honeywell, Axis Bank, Myntra Logistics, Amazon, Mcafee, Samsung r&d, HSBC Technology, Wells Fargo, Microsoft, Byjus, City Bank, Oyo, Epsilon India, Wipro India, Walmart, and Snap lab. Fees and Financial Aid:

NIT Hamirpur has a fairly reasonable fee structure compared to private colleges, and the best part is that it remains stable without sudden hikes. For me (general category)as student the yearly cost is about ?2,06,200 including tuition, hostel, and mess, while in the first year it comes to about ?2,13,200 because of admission and caution charges. For SC, ST, PwD, and students from families with income below ?1,00,000 there is a full tuition fee waiver, so the total expense is around ?60,000 per year which covers hostel and other compulsory charges. For families with income between ?1,00,000 and ?5,00,000 two-thirds of the tuition fee is waived, so the yearly expense is about ?1,00,200. The institute also provides many scholarship opportunities such as merit-cum-means, Top Class Education for SC and ST, Kalpana Chawla scheme, Samsung Star Scholar, and various central and state government scholarships. These options ease the financial burden for deserving students, and many of my batchmates have benefited from them. Overall, the fee and scholarship system at NIT Hamirpur feels student-friendly and ensures that financial constraints do not become a barrier to pursuing education here.

Tuition fees is about 20000 rs , registration fees is taken during Counselling procedure of JOSAA and CSAB, its taken for the confirmation of seat allocated during counselling of josaa and csab, its about 37000rs.

Per sem 15000 for academic and 40000 for hostel .And we have 4 years course so for 8 sem Total amount= 4,40,000. This is totally amount for academic as well as for hostel.And for general category it is all about 80,00,000

Best nit I had ever seen

I am from NIT Hamirpur.This college is very exciting and beautiful. My 1st semester fee with all other charges is 34100 and for other 7 semester the total fee is 21100 . I am from SC category so this is my fee structure. current i have not applied for any of scholarship.

Minimum 75 percent attendance criteria is so bad.

If you don't have have any reservations you'll have to pay approximately 170000 as your college fees (including tuition fee,caution fee etc.), hostel fees will be charged separately. If your family income is in the range 1 lakh to 5 lakh then you'll have to pay only two third of the tuition fee and if your family income is less than 1 lakh then you'll have to pay only one third of the tuition fee. Scheduled caste and scheduled Tribes students doesn't require to pay hostel fees. There are many scholarships available for the students which they can avail after taking admission in the college.

Nit Hamirpur ( the college of dreams)

The fee structure is 38k rupees and divided accordingly with categories and family income. The hostel fee is fixed for everyone, which is 75000 for everyone. I belong to obc category, and my family income is less than 1 lakh, so I paid only 38000 at the counselling.

As it is a government college my expectations of fees was to be low but the college has too much fees which i didn't like it provides benifit to ews and backward caste people but general people are suffering due to this high fees

The course structure is not entirety placement oriented and gives students space to learn and prepare their own pathways forward.

The base fee per semester for my batch is 75750/76000 per semester. Although there are two different systems of financial aid based on caste and income. Students of OBV and EWS category pay a significantly less amount of fees and SC/STs have to pay only a little amount of fees which only amounts to 15-20% of the base fee. Among with this Students having family income less than 1lakh per annum also have to play only a substantial amount of tuition fees.
