Since it's a distance education course admission are granted based on application only. I applied for the course after 10+2 and got the admission. The directorate is the distance learning arm of the University of Jammu. The University of Jammu is a central educational hub in the UT of J&K.
It was the only state government run engineering college. So it was pretty obvious that the cut-off and competition to get into GCET was more than any other private college in the state. Right from the reputed and experienced faculty to the soft fee structure of the institute, it was a go to college for me or anybody else in the state. Upon joining, i opted for the mechanical engineering course because that had been my dream course, if i was to go for engineering.
