For the students from kerala the kerala government provide scholarships known as e grants where a huge burden is decreased.
Teachings are good and syllabus are very good .there is a good bond between teachers and students .the aadmission is through cuet so only 30 members can join through exam mark .lab is very good for all students
Many students showing good academic and showing good performance in interviews will get placements in topmost companies.after my post graduation i wll opt for teaching.

Dislikes

Local students don't help outside students and make them feel highly unwelcome.
The food provided by hostel mess is not good
Bioinformatics lab need serious transformation. The systems provided are completely useless for bioinformatics works. Currently a student can try their hands in bioinformatics only during their dissertation in their faculty's labs is a drawback

My opinion on my university

Likes

The atmosphere of the university is very calm and everywhere there is greenery.
My department is working in a democratic manner. Students have the space to request their needs and raise their concerns. It is very much helpful
People from different states helped me to improve my vocabulary.. Also department is providing free tutoring and mentoring classes to prepare for competitive exams.

Dislikes

Hostels that are built is not properly maintained. New hostels are facing many issues.
Asking cook salary from students is not a central university thing to do.
And I also don't like the delay in solving hostel inmates problem

Course Curriculum Overview:

The papers of 4 semesters are sometimes interchanging and are completely removed from the semester by adding new papers which are more relevant. The examinations are done by giving proper gaps. Other matters rather than academics are not affected in internal marks.

Central University of Kerala through eyes of a North Indian Student

Likes

Campus is serene. Great for people who like nature.
Classes are scheduled spacedly decreasing workload on student.
Batch strength is less so individual attention to all students.

Dislikes

No competitive exam support. One has to heavily rely on self study .
Not for people who like a vibrant college life, Everyday can feel pretty slow and less engaging,
Faculty are not upto the mark. Only few of them deliver course matter effectively. Rest are laid back and only focus on completing syllabus.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Our batch was in Covid lag batch. So the course curriculum was highly rushed. We weren't able to cover aspects which would have real world applications. The last semester research project was fine but still more hands on experience and more research oriented approach could've been taken .

Life at CUK

Likes

Campus is really big and there are no restrictions
Faculty is really knowledgeable and capable
There are students from many different cultures

Dislikes

Girls hostels are not 24*7 while boys hostels are
Even after two incidents they haven't appointed a new psychologist
Infrastructure is not well developed, eg: there is no gym and the indoor sports area is sometimes used as bus parking

Course Curriculum Overview:

I am a graduate in biotechnology so for me genomic science was ideal as I was interested in it. There could be more experiments in the practical sessions and more placement opportunities. As of now there are no placements. Also the department could bring in some international and national conferences too.

One of the best institution in kerala.

Likes

The university campus is 310 acres and well equipped. There is free shuttle bus service through out the campus and to the nearby town. There are also electric buggy for women as well as bicycles for students to travel inside the campus.
They also provide electric wheel chair for physically disabled. The labs, class rooms and hostel rooms are of food quality. Elevators are provided in both department. The faculties are student friendly and classes are easy to interact with.
The campus have students from almost all states of india as well as from abroad. So there are quiet a few various cultural programmes. The campus and library are very student friendly and are open nearly till 12 am.

Dislikes

The common lab have various equipments but some needs proper service and repair. Though we get great lab experience during dissertation, the couse practicals are too basic for the course.
Though the department and faculties are of high level the administration needs a serious improvements.

Placement Experience:

There are departments with placements and university has got a placement cell. There are also various career guidance classes, Innovation and entrepreneurship development centre(IEDC) to support students. But my course is more of a research oriented and as such I can apply for phd opportunities myself. The faculties will help in getting internships, recommendations and journal publications as long as long as we are interested.

Our department has been conducted many programs for us so that we can understand the scope of our subject in our real life .The teachers are completing the syllabus in time before exam .Teachers interaction between students is vey good .

Sports facilities are good. They promote all sports.
Hostel rooms and care takera are very good. Care taker support the student very well.For example if a fan complained the repair it maximum 2 days
University is very calm. Number of students is comparitevely low so Students will get more freedom in this campus.

Dislikes

Absense of a quality ground is visible. I hope it will make after 1-2 years
Some time Hostel food become a disaster. Absence of quality cook is the main problem
University is situated in a rurak area.Accesibility is very less.

Course Curriculum Overview:

This Course have lota of job oportunities in the future. I think it will help me to make a good career. This course provide me a 3 days field work in a week. It would help me to improove my communication skills.The Course curriculum is comparitively effective but should improove the teaching style of the faculties.

My experience on CUK as a masters student in Botany.

Likes

Campus, Hostel, syllabus, Library and the overall experience is too Good.

Dislikes

Here there is continuous assessment, so we won't get enough time for studies, that's we have to rush after each sem. The time span for each sem is approximately 90 days.. In it there is two internal exam and a End sem exam.
The mark provided for internal exam is greater than the external exam. That's threre exist a 60+40 system. 40 marks for internals and 60 for externals.

Placement Experience:

There is a well established placement cell in Cu kerala. Many students showing good academic and showing good performance in Interviews will get placements in topmost companies.After my post graduation i wll opt for teaching.

A green an clean campus with a peace atmosphere.
Good faculty members in which some of them are teaching their own journals
Good infrastructure,smart classrooms and good hostel.

Dislikes

Misbehaving security people with harsh behaviour.
Situated in a remote area,transportation and accessibility problem is there.
Regressive behaviour of the administration in many progressive issues

Course Curriculum Overview:

I like the course,Public administration and Policy Studies.This subject covers every aspect of administration and policy making.The faculty here is friendly and good.The ratio of girls and boys are 60:40. Most of the faculties are well qualified as some of them were also part of the UPSC board.The teaching method is also very interesting. We will be having a compulsory internship in third semester and compulsory dissertation in fourth semester.A semester is around 3-4 months which includes semester exams, presentation and also midterm exams. The passing rate is 90%.

Physics at CUK

Likes

Campus Life is enjoyable both day and night.
Enough exposure for higher education scopes.
Good faculty and nice learning atmosphere.

Dislikes

Libraries are not 24×7 and sonis the campus.
Ways to commute inside campus could be improved.
More cultural activities could be included.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The institute provides exposure to various fields of physics and has a pretty good laboratory facilities and facilities. Curriculum is designed in accordance with the NET and GATE examination. Examinations are conducted time bound. Moreover the curriculum gives importance to continuous evaluation more than end sem assessment.
