Ques. Is GATE required for admission to M.Tech Data Science at NMIMS MPSTME?
Ans. No, GATE is not required. NMIMS MPSTME conducts its own Entrance Test (25 MCQs, 50 marks, 60 minutes) covering Engineering Mathematics, Probability and Statistics, and Programming Concepts, followed by a Personal Interview. This makes it accessible to candidates who have not appeared for GATE.
Ques. What is the industry collaboration in this programme and how does it benefit students?
Ans. The programme is offered in collaboration with LTIMindtree (LTIM) and implementation partner L&T EduTech. The curriculum is jointly designed by NMIMS and L&T leading academicians and industry experts. In the second year, students get project experience with industry infrastructure. Students also have access to placement and internship opportunities across L&T group companies and other participating companies including LTIMindtree.
Ques. What is the fee structure and when will Batch 2026 fees be announced?
Ans. The fees for Batch 2025 were Rs. 5,52,000 per annum (Rs. 11,04,000 total for 2 years). Fees for Batch 2026 will be intimated at the time of admission in the offer letter. The registration fee of Rs. 2,500 is non-refundable. Hostel is optional and costs approximately Rs. 1,80,000 to Rs. 2,45,000 per year.
Ques. What are the placement prospects for M.Tech Data Science graduates from NMIMS MPSTME?
Ans. The programme has a strong placement record. The 2020-22 batch saw a highest package of Rs. 16.5 LPA and an average of Rs. 11.72 LPA. Key recruiters include KPMG, ZS Associates, Morgan Stanley, Deloitte, eClerx, SAS, and General Mills. The industry collaboration with LTIMindtree also provides additional placement avenues. However, placements are in the data science and analytics domain, not general management.
Ques. Can a B.Sc. graduate apply for this programme?
Ans. Yes, candidates with M.Sc. in Maths, Statistics, Computer Sciences, IT, or Electronics are eligible. However, a plain B.Sc. graduate is not directly eligible unless they have an M.Sc. in the relevant subjects. B.Tech/B.E. graduates from all streams with at least 50% aggregate are eligible. MCA graduates are also eligible.
Ques. What is the minimum attendance requirement and how is assessment done?
Ans. A minimum of 80% attendance is mandatory. Continuous assessment (50 marks per subject) includes 5 marks for attendance, 20 marks for class tests, and 25 marks for term work (practicals, assignments, oral exams). The remaining 50 marks are for the term-end exam. Students must score a minimum of 50% in the combined total to pass a subject.
