Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for NIT Meghalaya Cutoff

Ques. What is the expected safe score/rank for B.Tech (Computer Science and Engineering) at NIT Meghalaya?

Ans. Based on the final official seat allotment data, students aiming for B.Tech (Computer Science and Engineering) through JEE Main should try to get a rank around 59,949 (for Home State, General, Male) to have a highly secure chance of admission.

Ques. Does NIT Meghalaya accept multiple entrance exams for admission?

Ans. Yes, students can get into NIT Meghalaya through different entrance exams like JEE Main, GATE, NIMCET, CSAB. Each exam has its own separate cutoff rank and official counselling process.

Ques. Which data point is more important: Round 1 opening rank or the Final Round closing rank?

Ans. The final round closing rank is the most important data point because it shows the exact rank of the absolute last student admitted. Round 1 opening ranks just show how competitive the course was at the very beginning of the process.

Ques. How do category reservations work for NIT Meghalaya cutoffs?

Ans. The college follows official government reservation rules. This means categories like OBC, SC, ST, and EWS have their own dedicated seats, and their closing ranks are usually lower and more accessible than the General (OPEN) category.

Ques. Can the closing ranks drop further during special rounds?

Ans. Yes, if seats are left empty after the main counselling rounds, authorities often hold Spot Rounds or CSAB special rounds. During these extra rounds, the closing ranks can drop significantly, offering a final chance for admission.
