Sikkim Univ Ph.D. Zoology Admission 2026-27
Admission to Ph.D. (Zoology) at Sikkim University is conducted through a merit-based process combining UGC-NET/CSIR-NET/GATE or equivalent scores (70% weightage) and a departmental interview (30% weightage). The 2026-27 First Cycle admissions are now closed, with classes having commenced on August 1, 2026. The Second Cycle 2026 admissions were also completed with classes commencing on February 10, 2027. For the upcoming 2027-28 session, admissions are expected to open tentatively in May 2027.

Note: UGC-NET (Life Sciences) and CSIR-NET (Life Sciences) are the primary qualifying exams for Ph.D. (Zoology) admission. GATE (Life Sciences/Biotechnology) is also accepted.

Eligibility Criteria:
- Master's degree (2-year/4-semester programme after 3/4-year Bachelor's) in Zoology, Life Sciences, or allied subjects with minimum 55% marks in aggregate (50% for SC/ST/OBC-NC/DA/EWS).
- Must hold a valid UGC-NET/CSIR-NET/GATE or equivalent national-level test certificate (Category A, B, or C).
- Candidates with a 4-year Bachelor's Degree with Research and minimum CGPA of 7.5 (75%) are also eligible, provided they hold a valid NET/equivalent score.
- International candidates with a Master's Degree (3+2 scheme) with at least 55% marks from a foreign institution accredited by an approved agency are eligible.
Admission Process:
- Register online at https://cusadmission.samarth.edu.in/ and pay the application fee.
- Upload required documents including NET/CSIR-NET/GATE certificate, mark sheets, and qualifying degree certificate.
- Applications are scrutinised by the Working Committee on Admission (WCA); shortlisted candidates are notified via the university website.
- Shortlisted candidates appear for a departmental interview (30% weightage); NET/equivalent score carries 70% weightage.
- Final merit list is prepared and uploaded on the university website.
- Selected candidates pay the admission fee online within the stipulated date.
- Physical reporting and document verification is mandatory; failure to report results in cancellation of admission.
- Students from other universities must submit migration certificates in original by October 30 of the admission year.
