Ques. What is the total number of M.V.Sc. seats available at TANUVAS across all specialisations?
Ans. The total number of M.V.Sc. seats at TANUVAS across all specialisations is approximately 52 (as per the latest available data), distributed across Tamil Nadu state quota, ICAR quota, and DAH (Department of Animal Husbandry) quota. Individual specialisations typically have 1-3 seats under the Tamil Nadu state quota.
Ques. Is the TANUVAS M.V.Sc. degree recognised for government jobs and teaching positions?
Ans. Yes, the M.V.Sc. degree from TANUVAS is recognised by the Veterinary Council of India (VCI) and ICAR. Graduates are eligible for Veterinary Assistant Surgeon posts in state animal husbandry departments, ICAR scientist positions, and teaching/research positions in veterinary colleges across India.
Ques. What is the difference between the ICAR quota and the Tamil Nadu state quota for M.V.Sc. at TANUVAS, and which is more competitive?
Ans. The ICAR quota (15% of seats) is filled through the ICAR AIEEA (PG) national entrance exam, and candidates from all states can compete. The Tamil Nadu state quota (85% of seats) is filled based on OGPA in the B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree, and is open only to Tamil Nadu state candidates. Both quotas are highly competitive given the very limited seat intake per specialisation. Candidates from other states can only apply through the ICAR quota.
