Ans. No, a design background is not mandatory. The eligibility criterion is a minimum of 50% aggregate in any Bachelor's degree from a UGC-recognized University. The program is designed to be interdisciplinary.
Ques. Is CEED compulsory for admission to M.Des at PES University?
Ans. No, CEED is not compulsory. Admission is primarily through the PES Entrance Process (online interview). However, candidates with a valid CEED score receive additional weightage during the online interview process, which can improve their chances of selection. CEED-qualified candidates must still register and appear for the PES online interview.
Ques. What is the difference between the three M.Des specializations at PESU?
Ans. Game and Entertainment Design (GED) focuses on game mechanics, storytelling, UX, and game development. Interaction and Interface Design (IID) covers UX/UI, digital products, AR/VR, and human-computer interaction. Strategic Design Management (SDM) combines design thinking with business strategy, brand management, and innovation leadership. Students should choose based on their career goals - GED for gaming/entertainment, IID for digital product design, and SDM for design-led business roles.
Ques. Does PES University provide placement support specifically for M.Des students?
Ans. The university's Placements Wing conducts placement events for all programs, including M.Des. However, since the M.Des program is newly introduced at PESU, dedicated placement data exclusive to this course is not yet available. The university's strong industry connections, particularly in tech and design sectors, and its alumni network at companies like Microsoft, Google, Amazon, and META provide a good foundation for M.Des graduates.
Ques. Is a portfolio required for the M.Des admission process at PES University?
Ans. Yes, candidates are required to carry their creative portfolio along with educational transcripts and other supporting documents when appearing for the online interview process. The portfolio is an important component of the evaluation and should reflect your creative work and design thinking.
Ques. Can I switch specializations after joining the M.Des program?
Ans. The M.Des program at PES University offers three distinct specializations with separate curricula. Specialization switching after joining is generally not permitted as each stream has a dedicated course structure from the first trimester. It is advisable to carefully evaluate your interests and career goals before selecting a specialization at the time of application.
