GEHU Diploma CSE FAQs
Q1. What is the duration of the Diploma in CSE at GEHU, and who is it suitable for?
Ans. The Diploma in CSE at GEHU is a 3-year program for students who have passed Class 10 with Maths and Science. For students who have passed Class 12, it is a 2-year program. It is suitable for students who want to enter the technical workforce quickly, or who want to pursue B.Tech CSE through lateral entry (directly into 2nd year) after completing the diploma, saving one year compared to a regular B.Tech.
Q2. Can Diploma CSE graduates from GEHU get direct admission into B.Tech CSE 2nd year (lateral entry)?
Ans. Yes. One of the biggest advantages of the Diploma in CSE at GEHU is that upon completion, students can directly enroll in the 2nd year of B.Tech Computer Science Engineering through the lateral entry scheme, either at GEHU itself or at other universities that accept lateral entry. This effectively means diploma holders can complete their B.Tech in 3 more years instead of 4, saving both time and money.
Q3. What subjects and technologies are covered in the Diploma in CSE at GEHU?
Ans. The program covers programming languages (C, C++, Java, Python), software development, computer hardware, networking, database management systems, web development, mobile application development, and emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing, and cybersecurity. The curriculum is designed in consultation with industry experts.
Q4. What are the career options after completing Diploma in CSE from GEHU?
Ans. Diploma holders can work as Junior Software Developers, Network Engineers, Database Administrators, Cybersecurity Analysts, Web Developers, IT Support Technicians, and Data Entry/Processing professionals. However, for higher-paying roles and career advancement, most students are advised to pursue B.Tech CSE through lateral entry after completing the diploma, as a degree opens significantly more opportunities.
Q5. Is the fee structure for Diploma CSE the same for Uttarakhand and All India students at GEHU?
Ans. Yes. Unlike the B.Tech and other degree programs at GEHU which have a separate (lower) fee structure for Uttarakhand/hilly state candidates, the Diploma in CSE has a uniform fee structure for both All India and state candidates. The total fees are approximately Rs. 2.74 lakhs for the 3-year program under yearly payment mode.
Q6. Is there any merit-based scholarship available for Diploma CSE students at GEHU?
Ans. The Diploma in CSE program does not have the merit-based academic scholarship brackets that are available for degree programs (B.Tech, BBA, etc.) at GEHU. The only concessions available are 10% for female candidates and 5% for wards of defence personnel. Students who later pursue B.Tech CSE through lateral entry will be eligible for merit scholarships at the time of B.Tech admission based on their diploma performance.
