Ques. What subjects can I choose in the BA programme at SKDU?
Ans. SKDU offers a wide range of subjects under the BA programme including Hindi, Sanskrit, English, Punjabi, Geography, History, Political Science, Economics, Public Administration, Philosophy, Sociology, Home Science, Drawing and Painting, Music, and Defence and Strategic Studies. Students typically choose a combination of 3 subjects as their main subjects. The exact combination options should be confirmed with the university at the time of admission.
Ques. Is the BA at SKDU a 3-year or 4-year programme under NEP 2020?
Ans. Under NEP 2020, the BA at SKDU follows a 3+1 year structure. Students can exit after 1 year with a Certificate, after 2 years with a Diploma, after 3 years with a BA degree, or continue for a 4th year to earn a BA (Honours) degree. The standard BA degree remains 3 years for most students.
Ques. What is the total fee for BA at SKDU? Is it affordable?
Ans. Yes, the BA at SKDU is very affordable. The total fee for the 3-year BA programme is approximately Rs. 98,000 (around Rs. 24,000 to Rs. 32,500 per year depending on subject combination). This is significantly lower than most private universities. Hostel charges (Rs. 72,000 to Rs. 1,05,000 per year) are optional and charged separately.
Ques. Can a Science or Commerce student apply for BA at SKDU?
Ans. Yes, students from any stream (Science, Commerce, or Arts) who have passed 10+2 with a minimum of 36% aggregate marks are eligible to apply for the BA programme at SKDU. There is no stream restriction for BA admission.
Ques. What career options are available after completing BA from SKDU?
Ans. BA graduates from SKDU can pursue careers in teaching (after B.Ed.), civil services (IAS, RAS, and other state PSC exams), journalism and media, social work, law (after LLB), public administration, and research. Many students also pursue MA in their chosen subject for higher studies. SKDU itself offers a wide range of MA programmes in subjects like Hindi, English, History, Geography, Economics, Political Science, and more.
Ques. Does SKDU accept CUET UG scores for BA admission, or is direct merit-based admission available?
Ans. SKDU accepts both CUET UG scores and direct merit-based admission for the BA programme. Students who have not appeared for CUET UG can still apply directly through the university portal, and admission will be based on their 10+2 marks. CUET UG registration for 2026 closed on February 26, 2026, with the exam scheduled for May 11-31, 2026.
