- I found the research taking place in this university under my department interesting and also what I wish to pursue. They have a great faculty and research is top notch.
It is great. It's a new experience. If you're planning to come here to US, research properly. After choosing the course you want look for the best universities. Check if they provide GTA/RA options and also check for scholarship opportunities. Prepare for the exams they want you to qualify. Apply for the courses.
Course Curriculum
The curriculum was moderately fine. There is no research experience given. It will depend on the faculty you want to work with. For the other courses like engineering have GTA and RA opportunities as well.
Faculty
There is a lot of experienced faculty here. They are approachable and fun. Dr. Jeffrey Demuth is professor taking Bioinformatics course and he is very friendly and kind. Another is Dr. Theodora koromila, under her I'm working in a project on genetics in her lab.
Campus Life
Campus is very vast, spans like 500 acres. Have great infrastructure. Every festival or occasion of every community is celebrated greatly. There is a lot of events happening everyday in some or other corner of the campus.
Placement
Phd and lot of research opportunities as lab tech, research associates, clinical associates. More of it is in the research field and could be like salary of 40k annually.
Accommodation
On campus housing are much affordable. They give you great options.
Exams
GRE and TOEFL is required now. While I came to USA it was during 2022 the Covid GRE exemption time so I just had to take the TOEFL exam. I had to submit SOP and LOR. For the SOP they asked me why choose this course in this particular University and what you plan to achieve. For the LORs I got it from the previous professors in my bachelors college.
