Likes

Dislikes
- I found the weather cold sometimes especially winter.
- It was difficult to walk in the snow.
- It is on a hill so tough to walk.
Course Curriculum
10
- The difficulty level of my course curriculum was manageable at times but hard at times.
- It was a mix of theoretical and practical and applicable to real-world scenarios and we also did case studies etc.
- The positive aspects were the group homeworks and assignments we did so we could interact and collaborate with our peers.
- The teaching methodology is great and prepares you well and most professors send the slides etc. to review post class.
Admission Experience
- I am delighted to share that I applied to two prestigious institutions:-
- Tufts University and the University of Southern California, for admission.
- I was thrilled to receive confirmed acceptances from both universities, meaning I did not receive a rejection letter from either one. This positive outcome reflects my hard work and dedication, and I was truly grateful for the opportunity to attend either of these exceptional schools and ultimately chose Tufts.
- I chose to attend Tufts University because of a variety of reasons.
- Firstly, the school's academic rigor really appealed to me as someone who is very intellectually curious and always on the pursuit of learning, then I wanted to be closeby to a city but not too close and Tufts fit that perfectly.
- I also wanted to be in a place where I could see myself grow both personally and professionally and Tufts seemed like the ideal place to do so for me.
- The admissions process from application to acceptance were pretty straightforward. Starting with filling out the common app, getting letters of recommendation and applying, to then hearing back, receiving a decision, paying my deposit, and then ultimately attending university.
- They are test optional so SAT/ ACT is optional if you wish to submit those scores but no compulsion to do so. My overall admissions process was great and smooth and very streamlined.
- I applied for the Fall intake at Tufts, aligning with the full academic year and orientation programs.
- I submitted my application in early January and received a decision by late March, approximately 2 months later. The process was smooth, with clear communication throughout. I committed by the May 1 deadline, ensuring time to review options and plan.
Class Schedule
10
- Everyday I had about 3 classes and timings depended but I liked to finish mine off in the mornings.
- The average number of students in my class also depended.
- In beginning level classes that you typically take as 1st and 2nd years, classes are bigger seminar style classes with about 100+ students, but as you take higher level classes this goes down and you get to interact way more with professors.
Faculty
10
- The faculty to student ratio honestly depends on the class.
- Yes, faculty are always helpful in helping students with finding jobs and networking.
- I admire faculty who teach and are also running their own startups/ businesses simultaneously as they bring practical teachings to the table.
Campus Life
10
- Tufts has 5 campuses:
- Medford/Somerville (main)
- Boston (SMFA and health sciences, including the medical school)
- Grafton (vet school).
- Facilities include libraries, sports centers, and health services
- Events like Spring Fling, Fall Fest, with 300+ clubs, intramurals, and cultural groups, make campus life dynamic and engaging at Tufts.
- There is something for everyone to do.
Part Time Jobs
- At Tufts, students can secure TA, RA, or DA positions, with availability varying by department.
- Pay ranges from $12–20/hour. Other on-campus jobs include roles in dining, libraries, and fitness center, with wages around $14–16/hour.
- Students can work up to 20 hours per week. Securing a job depends on availability and competition however it is possible and I was a TA for a class.
- It depends student to student, but most Indian students at Tufts prefer working in dining services, libraries, or research roles.
- Students typically earn $12–20/hour.
- Securing part-time jobs can be competitive. The process involves searching on the Tufts job portal, submitting resumes or applications, attending interviews, and waiting for decisions.
Placement
10
- Most Tufts grads secure employment within 6 months.
- The average salary range is $60,000–$90,000.
- Students typically find jobs through campus recruitment, internships, networking, and online portals.
- Companies like Google, Amazon, and biotech firms hire Tufts graduates, with roles in tech, research, and consulting. Placement experiences vary by field.
Accommodation
Off Campus
10
- I found my accomodation through university itself for first two years as first two years there is an on campus residency requirement. Then later I moved off campus.
- The monthly rent for first 2 years was just semester housing fees that was paid, then I paid fees to my landlord.
- There are different types of dorms, double, suite style, etc. so it depends.
Exams
- Tufts is test-optional, so submitting SAT/ACT scores wasn’t required.
- Required documents included the Common or Coalition App, essays, LORs, and transcripts.
- An optional alumni interview, conducted virtually, provided a chance to share interests and learn about Tufts. It was supplementary and not a major factor in admissions but would be considered.
Fees
- Fees is charged semester wise at Tufts. For the first two years, since you live on campus, your food expenses are more or less limited as you are eating in dining halls.
- Later on once you move off campus and need groceries, eat out, order in, it goes up.
- Average cost before aid is $88,300- $67,844 for Tuition, $20,456 is Other costs (books and on-campus room & board) as per website.
Scholarship
- Tufts offers need-based aid but no merit scholarships.
- Aid includes grants and scholarships from the institution, state, and federal government.
- Tufts financial aid officers work closely with students to help find financial solutions that match their needs.
- Financial aid for undergraduate students in the School of Arts & Sciences and School of Engineering is awarded entirely based on financial need.
