What Students Say
Likes
- The campus facilities like stores and Indoor games
- Accommodations are nearby and neat
- Food court and shops all around campus
Dislikes
- Big campus so its hard to walk all across the campus.
- In some hours. You have to wait for 10-15 minutes to get the next bus to home
- For car parking. You have to pay parking fees per month.
Course Curriculum
- Difficulty level as pr me is nothing, it's so easy compared to Indian education, it's more practical than theoretical. I took 3-4 subjects every semester. So 3 days a week is your usual routine to class room. There are only 40 students allowed per betch so it easy and focused way to teach students. And there were 30 Indian students in my classroom.
Admission Experience
- I applied to 10-11 colleges and got an offer letter from every one of them. I chose this one because there is a whole Indian community in this college, and the tuition fees are also low, and the weather in California is great
- NUU, NJIT, CSU LONG BEACH, CSU FULLERTON
- ASU, Cleveland State University, and also I forgot some other name. But I feel I chose the right one.
- First of all Its weather of California, I literally do not like snow, and secondly, I heard good reviews about the university, and more, there is an Indian community living near the university. There are like 300 students living in the same area, so we can celebrate our home and it feels like home. Long Beach is also known for being a calm and peaceful city. Los Angeles is 50 minutes away, and you can take flights anywhere at any time.
- I went in summer intake, the admission process is not too hard; you just have to pay $30 to apply in university and have to wait till 1-2 months for their reply on the decision, you have to submit some paperwork, like your study results, of you study some income proof of you sponsor and have to pass English proficiency test. IELTS, tofel or gre whichever is required in the particular course.
Faculty
- I don't know the actual faculty-to-student ratio. But its mor than enough. Most of the faculty are either Middle Eastern of asian, but all are very friendly. They provide enough documentation to study, and they don't focus on unnecessary and unwanted things, so you can focus on the real practical problems of your course.
- Yes, faculties are very helpful, and their references are very helpful in finding both jobs.
Campus Life
- It's only 1 campus, but it's really big, 400 acres big. There is everything on the campus, food, sports area, cafes, restaurants, libraries, 2 nd largest pyramid of USa, and its basketball court. Soccer ground, baseball.
- There are an endless number of clubs and events going on all the timein campus. Flee, fair 4th July festival. The beach is also nearby.
Part Time Jobs
- Around 40% students can get part time job on campus, the pay range is aroud $17- 25.
- You can work in cafes, restaurants, or as garden assistants.
- Maximum, anyone can work for 40 hours a week.
- If you can start finding early, and you match the requirements of the job, you can get a job and start working on the first day to USA. Or you can help to any family friend at their store.

Placement
- Companies come to universities for funding new talent, and if you go to fairs and get internships and work on a project with them, you can get a job even before graduation. You have to apply to around 200-300 companies and be weel prepare.
- You can get it in no time, or you have to wait for 3-4 months. But you will get a good full-time job eventually. With a good pay rate. 70-80k annually on starting.
Accommodation
- I was living in off-campus apartments, because it's well known that Indians live there, so it was really easy to find them through Facebook groups. The monthly rent was $1300 for me because I chose to live in a private room.
- Also, there is whatsapp group of Indian students in Long Beach; there are 2000 students in that group. You can faind solution very easily. My apartment was hardly 5 minutes away. Beverly Hills' apartment is very popular for Indian students' accommodation, its neat CSU Long Beach.
Exams
- In my university requirements differ in different courses; some have to go through the GRE, some have to pass the PTE, and IELTS or TOEFL is compulsory.
- Documents required are a bank statement and, if you are going through a loan, a loan certificate. You also have to gether LOR from you professer in you bachelors, you have to create a good CV, and write a good SOP.
Fees
- Fees are $6000-7000 for semester and you can pay by monthly payment or fully every semester, monthly rent in sharing room is around $600 and othe expenses are $ 500, it depends on you how do you wanna stay you can easily lower or higher you living cost by increasing or decreasing roommates, I personally stayed alone in my room so it was $1300 for me.
Scholarship
- For International students, there are no or minimal scholarships. If there are any third parties that provide scholarships, then I am unaware of that.
- Other than that, the fees are minimal, and you can find a job on campus so you can easily pay your fees within 6 months. Because you are allowed to work for 40 hours weekly on campus. And minimum pay for one hour is $20, so you can pay your fees and live on your own.
